So 2 prints in a row. Small platform style of print, there are ridges in the the top surface layer on the back right of the print. I have 2 objects of the same type on the print bed, only the object on the right and only the rear right of the object have the issue. I print these all the time on my X1C’s and P1S’s no problem. Seem like maybe over extrusion on the rear right side, or the nozzle is dragging across the print on the rear right side?
No lifting of the edge of the print, it is perfectly flat. Happened last night so first thing I did was go wash the build plate in warm water and Dawn. Then did another print overnight and no change in the print.
Surface artifacts like that are always an indication that the part is warping up and pressing against the nozzle. As you said the part is not separated from the plate then the plate is probably pulling off of the bed.
When in doubt, reset the machine and go from scratch. After i updated mine i had an issue with the nozzle driving itself in the the bed plate toward the front left, but in the back it printed just fine. Did all kinda stuff before I just decided to reset the thing and that seemed to have returned it to printing normal again, but my plate got PETG embedded in it and gouged so I submitted a ticket to try and get a new be since it was a brand new machine and didnt have till i had updated it.
When the print head is at the back right hand side (standing in front of the printer), the filament tube will “most likely” be rubbing against the right wall and/or glass cover. So it could be that the flow of the filament is unstable at this point.
Looks like my bed is not level…
Using a straight edge you can see light between the build plate and the straight edge. This is with the bed at 55*C. I also checked just the bed without the build plate and it is the same.
I am waiting on support before I go looking for a tramming article.
Kind of an update on this. Support had me perform a bed leveling, that did not help. The bed is quite warped, I took a video and sent it to support. How can I get them to fix this?
If you sent support a log, they will be able to see just how much the bed is warped. A solution may require a few more email exchanges.
Your bed has an obvious warp, and fixing that will require a new bed. Automatic Bed compensation might be able to create a consistently thick layer, but it cannot make the layer flat.
Support might ask you to manually tram the bed before making a small print and sending a new log. This is to be sure the bed is as close to level as possible so that the automatic bed compensation can deal with small irregularities. The print does not matter, the auto-levelling data logged before the print is what they need to see. Tramming will not fix the warp, but do it anyway, just to prove the problem is beyond the ability of ABC to correct the problem and show willingness to cooperate.
Support does have a habit of not reading your first few complaints and ignoring the logs you have already sent. Just be persistent.
Replacing the bed does require a few hours of work, you might want to consider returning the whole printer for a replacement since it is still under warranty.
I did already manually tram the bed, but they sent me the instructions for the 1 series. I was able to find the 2 series on the wiki though, so… Anyway, I requested a warranty replacement since I am in the 30 days, but not sure how that will go. I still have my box, so that is something, but I fully expect them to fight me on it and drag their feet. I have had so many tickets closed by their support without the problem actually being solved, I don’t have a lot of faith in them.
Back in the day we used to level our taco-shaped beds with tape and shims underneath the plate. Perhaps you could try as well. Unfortunate that bambu printer UI’s doesn’t present you with the leveling data, but if you can get it to looks better by eye, the auto mesh leveling might be able to get it all the rest of the way.
Just an update here. I trammed the bed according to their article then ran a calibration again as per support. The issues still persist. Support says the print bed doesn’t have to be level, lol. Of course they do not want to replace the printer or the print bed.
I honestly think it may be time for a class action lawsuit against them for turning end users into workers without pay and for failing to provide warranty service according to their terms.
Another issue I am going to run into is I am leaving on vacation in a few days and will be gone for 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. And their support likes to close tickets without any progress, which I won’t be able to provide while I am away. And of course, I’m sure they will use that as an excuse to not warranty the printer.
They are correct when “level” is defined as parallel to the earth’s surface. You can print with the bed at an angle, and there are videos of printers working mounted to a wall and even upside down.
For FDM printing, “level” means something different - the bed is equidistant to the plane of nozzle tip movement. Tramming and Automatic Bed Levelling generally meet this requirement.
The problem is that your bed is not FLAT - points on the surface are not all in the same plane. That means all of your prints will have a matching curve. Edges on the bed will not be straight, models will rock on rounded bottoms.
I still think you’d get to a printable state today with some careful application of tape on the underside. It does not need to be perfect, there is still mesh leveling in play (I think? P2 i hope has it) so if you get it within tolerance of mesh level to address it, you’ll be good. Add 5mins to your heat soak pre-print to mitigate heat transmissivity of the new tape
The issue is really on on the back right left of the print area. I can print smaller parts, or use less of the buildplate fine. Basically making the printer a 150x150mm or so. It is the back right that is the issue, and with the new tramming for this particular bed, that part of the bed is not adjustable, it is fixed. I would have to build up the rest of the build bed to that height…
Seems like a lot of work for a brand new machine that shouldn’t do this.
Did you try to install an auxiliary airflow diffuser? One Upstream that push up the air of the cooling fan?
If your issue is always and only on the right hand side of the bed, it can be linked to the strong air flow
