I am planning to print with some TPU. At the moment, I’m drying my TPU spool. Having read the Wiki , I noticed the reference to performing a “cold pull”. The Wiki makes reference to previously printing with a fiber contained filament. I don’t print with any fiber filaments. I typically print ABS, PLA, and PETG.
Do I need to perform a cold pull before printing TPU? If so, how often?
The worst I did was switching from a week of ASA CF Black to white TPU. If you’re printing with fiber materials, I strongly recommend performing up to 3 cold pulls with PETG.
Most of what I print is ASA and PETG with TPU 95A about a half dozen times a month. I have never done a cold pull outside of my normal maintenance routine which is every 2 to 4 weeks.
A recent Studio release included a new message that badgers you to do a cold pull on every TPU print. I just click through it.
