TPU for AMS Alternative

Anyone have any success with any 3rd party versions of TPU that work in the AMS other than Bambu’s? I would really like something I can order from Amazon so it is here same/next day. Ordering from Bambu direct takes longer than I am normally willing to wait.

Also 95% of the things I make are parts like mounting brackets, clips, or other misc things so I actually like the harder TPU’s so I am not worried about them being super soft. If there are any other recommendations on a filament that would be fairly rigid but still have some flexibility that would be great too. I use quite a bit of PLA/PETG but they are both often just a little too brittle for a bracket that needs to flex to get clipped onto something.

64d has been fine in ptfe tubes. edit: The brand ive used is Justmaker, but that looks like one of those mfrs that will have a new amazon storefront+name in 6 months.

I’ve run this through both an AMS 1 & 2, and an HT.
Didn’t think it would work but it did. HS2, PS1 and a Mini.

Hell yeah, didn’t know sirayatach made it too.

I’m a big fan of sirayatech for all these weird emergent filament types. They seem to care.

Advice, dry it beyond what you think it will take. They’re 95a is pretty good as well, but it takes a lot of drying as well.

I’ve been looking for several months for a replacement for TPU for AMS since it’s always out of stock. I’m actually drying a spool CC3D 72D as I’m writing this.

I’ve tried Siraya Tech Flex TPU 64D and it is easy to print with very little tuning and the finish is nice. It certainly is a good substitute for some of my needs but not all because it’s more flexible. It is AMS compatible but it’s not AMS 2 and AMS Lite compatible. YMMV but to me it’s flexible enough to be shredded in AMS 2 filament gears and will eventually if left in for a number of RFID reread cycles or when the rollers occasionally get stuck. I don’t have an AMS 1 and can’t comment on how harsh those gears are on filament.

CC3D TPU 72D is stiffer than the Siraya Tech but is not as stiff, by a hair, as TPU for AMS. When bent it does spring back more than TPU for AMS. It only come in white, black and clear.n That’s all I can say at this point

I’m planning on doing some test prints on Friday. If that works well I will attempt to send it through my AMS 2 as its seems stiff enough to work.

I’ve used the Siraya Tech 64D exclusively in my AMS HT for months. Never had a feeding issue. I haven’t checked side by side, but I didn’t think it was significantly more flexible than TPU for AMS. However, I did think it was slightly better at z adhesion, which is why I use it.

Personally, I’m waiting for someone to make a 95A foaming TPU. I figure if Siraya Tech can make a 65A filament that feels like a 85-90A when on the spool, I suspect they could formulate a foaming TPU that has a stiff 64D feel on the spool but gets as flexible as a 95A when printed hot. Granted, this would be a filament that is printed porous, so it wouldn’t hold water or air. But I think people would like it. IMO, the porous printing of foaming TPUs is very appealing as it creates a type of flexibility that can’t be had any other way.

What in the hell, check downstream that amazon listing, they have TPU-GF. My monkey brain is short circuiting. Does it end up stiff from the GF, or does it stay flexible from the TPU? Sirayatach, out there going wild

I got a roll from some company and really liked it. But it is not soft or flexible. The one I got was TPU CF, and had about the same flex as TPU for AMS. And yes… it worked perfectly in a AMS.

Confirming you feed the 64D TPU through the HT’s PTFE into the back of the printer or directly in the extruder?

Another vote for CC3D.

I feed it directly in to the HT’s ceramic feeder and through the buffer at the back. Interchangeable with the other hard filaments. Remember 64D feels like TPU for AMS… which feels like a flexible but hard PLA on the spool.

I effectively use the TPU for AMS profile unchanged for everything. Its pretty flawless.

I just gave the Siraya Tech Flex TPU 64D a shot. At first I thought it was going to be great but after drying it got significantly softer. I was not able to even get it feed down into the AMS1 as it would just bend. The CC3D spool is on its way and I will give that a shot.

The print quality with the Siraya Tech is really nice. I am running something with it off the spool in the rear right now.

I’ve had good luck with CC3D and they have some good colors.

I gave the CC3D 72D TPU Filament a shot and it worked great in the AMS. Thanks for the feeback everyone. I really like this stuff. Its much harder than the TPU I worked with before but still plenty flexible for most of the stuff I make.
