TPU printing and the H2S

Need to do a few prints in TPU but i want to make sure the best way to go about this

Do i really need to print the mount that attaches to the top of the h2s ? or can i just use the side spool mount and load it in to the proper port ?

The top mount is mainly for 85A and softer TPUs. For regular 90A and higher shore hardiness TPUs side spool is fine.

My printer is an H2C. I’ve read in a few places that TPU only works with the left nozzle. I have an AMS connected to that nozzle. Would I have to disconnect the AMS and then swap the left nozzle PTFE tube to the TPU bypass port?

No need to disconnect the AMS, just release the PTFE tube at the toolhead and swap with a PTFE through the bypass.

Also, new firmware accepts the TPU from the left nozzle but the nozzle of choice for TPU is really the right one not the left

I wonder if it would be more convenient to run a separate PTFE tube from the bypass port to the toolhead and clip it to the other two. I will still have to swap tubes but I think it would be easier to do the toolhead end.

Has anyone tried the two-into-one adapter that comes with the printer for TPU? Does that even have a chance of working?

Also, is the TPU assist module really needed? Some people say “yes” others “no”.

Here’s what I use. I did not want an extra adapter in the chamber on the cable chain as some did. I don’t print TPU too often so I just swap my PTFE at the toolhead when needed.

Is that some kind of a two-to-one adapter? It looks like it’s mounted to the toolhead.

Are you using the TPU assist module?

No, it’s just a resting post that clips on the fins in the middle of the toolhead. It just includes a clip connector taken from a 4-in-1 adapter to keep the TPU PTFE tube in place.

Are you also using the dedicated TPU hotend? Is not, how do you deal with the filament cutter?

Yes, I have a dedicated nozzle for TPU. I just hit unload, nozzle heats up and filament gets cut (this can also be done manually), I then disconnect PTFE and use the TPU Assist to retract.

I was referring to the special TPU nozzle that Bambu sells but I understand what you mean. Interesting that you are just using the normal induction hotends with the filament cutter. I’ve been reading that TPU has problems with it being cut inside the toolhead.
