TPU setup help

Hello, I have the P2S with AMS2 and am wanting to start using TPU 95A and need advice on how to set this up. I know you can’t run it through the AMS so that’s out and you have to run it as an external.

  1. What aftermarket filament dryer runs best with the P2S besides the Bambu Lab one?
  2. Can I run the filament through the top left port using a splitter and if so what splitter is recommended?
  3. I cant get my hands on a TPU feed module is it worth the wait?

I don’t want to remove my AMS everytime I run TPU what is your recommended setup?

Direct feed into the extruder using a top mount spool is my go to. It just works the best.

You could run it through the port on the top left. They key is to try and get the filament path as short as possible.

For the splitters. Just use the Bambu ones. They are cheap enough and are consistent.

I actually tried the Bambu 4:1 splitter for this. It was TPU90 and using the TPU assist module, but the older gray one the tpu kept getting jammed going through the 4:1. Obviously, this won’t happen if fed by hand or it will be more easy to detect. However, if you get the TPU feed assistant, you may have similar issues. I have the older gray 4:1. Looks like there is a new black one. Has anyone had similar issues and is there a better combiner than the gray one?

If you don’t have TPU feeder, it will have to be fed directly. TPU Printing Guide | Bambu Lab Wiki Here is the wiki that will help. If you are going to print a lot of TPU, then the feeder may be a good avenue.

I cant get my hands on a feeder they are always out of stock…. Whats a good filiment dryer that will work the best?

That’s like asking what’s the best car, 45, answers all claiming to be the best. I use the AMS HT’s. Sunlu comes us often and their 2 unit drier can get to 85deg but thinking you are not going to be printing PPS. Either a standard AMS2 or the printer itself under a cardboard box.

If you get a chance to come across a HT on eBay, for less than brand new may want to look into it.

I feed 95A TPU from filament dryer manually through the second inlet of the filament buffer and never had any problem. I think if you don’t use softer TPU that easy method is the way to go…

Print a top mount spool holder. I know that you do not want to remove the ams, but there is no reliable way to print tpu without it.

Agree, however i would qualify that anything softer than 85A needs to be top mounted

I have my two AMS 2 Pros going into the 4-way splitter, as well as my HT. I run the external spool from the left rear side of the printer to the other in-port on the back. (One port for the splitter and the one from the External Spool Holder). The tube is a bit long to be able to loop into the in-port, but I have never had a problem printing TPU from that setup! (I only have JAYO TPU, the grey one, so I can’t vouch for other types.)

According to what I have read about “TPU for AMS from Bambu Lab” its hardness is aproximately 68D in the Shore scale. That is aprox. two steps harder than the 95A

I have understood that TPU for AMS is the only valid TPU filament for AMSs (including AMS HT). Am I correct? other TPU filaments sujch as the 95A are incompatible with the HT?

What is then the purpose of the HT for TPU? only being a dryer for 95A and softer filmanents as it cannot feed directly those filaments? Is this true?

On the other hand has anyone any direct comparison between the HT and other products from other companies such as the Creality Space PI Plus or the Chitu Systems E1 dryer,

TPU for AMS can be used in Bothe the AMS Pro 2 and AMS HT. Have both, used both.

And what about the Bambu 95A. Is this filament compatible with AMS HT?. I know that it is not for AMS and AMS2 Pro, but with HT?

In bypass mode, yes. TPU for AMS can be used in both AMS Pro 2 and the AMS HT in standard mode. TPU 95A, 90A, 85A can only be run in the AMS HT in bypass mode and fed into the printer directly or with the TPU helper. Anything less than 85A must be directly fed into the printer. Using the TPU helper, you are mimicking some of the AMS HT features.

I use BambuLab 95A HF (it’s also a bit harder than regular 95A) and I never print from AMS. AMS compatible TPU is even harder. If it’s TPU, it should be flexible :slight_smile:
I have no experience with HT.
