Sorry if this has been answered before but searching the forums, I can’t find the info I need.
My question is this: -
I am printing with 2 PLA materials; Black PLA and Transparent PLA.
On the attached model, I am looking to print everything in black apart from the top layer of the green box that i want to be clear all the way through. I only want the top layer of the green box to be see-though all the way through and the rest untouched. I don’t want the whole model top layer to be see through material.
I have other use cases for this as well like lit-up house numbers so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Easiest and most versatile way that I know how to do would be to make the transparent bit a separate part that either prints with or maybe even apart from the other piece. Printing separately would save filament and speed things up by skipping filament swaps at each layer.
As separate parts logically, whether printed together or not, you can control print settings easier for best transparency. There are various optimizations for best/most transparent parts and having the transparent part as a separate bit makes assigning those parameters easier IMO.
Also, the Bambu wiki might be a good reference for best transparent parts.
I am using TinkerCad to make designs I need and is limited. But with some of the features Bambu provides, it has helped.
I did try and create the part I wanted as a separate part and exported them to Bambu and managed to get the part I needed transparent. But this above said way is just too easy.
