I printed this spiderman helmet with tree supports set to auto/normal, and it generated this monstrosity that is proving very difficult to remove. Does anyone know why it would create this when picking tree supports, this does not look like a tree at all. Overhang set to 20, newest version of studio and brand new h2d printer.
Also if anyone has any tips on how to remove this without damaging the helmet, or some support settings you use when printing helmets you can share, very appreciated.

It said the file was to big, I tried it twice, it suggested I share it from cloud sharing service.
I see that you are not using the support for PLA that you have loaded in the profile. That might help in the future. Was that intentional?
Your top interface spacing is also set to 0. Any reason for that? It is not a surprise that the supports are fusing with the part.
Yeah. I take that comment back. I realized that the file was 40mb after I downloaded it.
It was a bought helmet, with included 3mf, I assumed the creator set everything up properly, my bad for not looking at the settings better.
I had some bambu support PLA, kept failing nozzle calibration, not sure why, have not had a chance to look at it yet, so I just printed it all with the same PLA. Any suggestions on some settings I can tweak for any futures ones, with interface spacing definately one of them. I don’t understand though why it made that huge cylinder with tree supports enabled.
Not certain but the support intended might be water soluble but at a minimum it’s supposed to not fuse with the model. That’s why the clearance was set to 0 - to give you the more accurate finish in the area where support was touching the model since the support would either dissolve away or pull away easily. When you substituted regular PLA that 0 clearance printed the support into the model. It may be like trying to break a model along layer lines like that.
But how to get support out? I use various pliers and needle nose pliers to grab little bits at a time. The support is thin wall so should still tear and break away somewhat easily until you get to the model/support interface. There it may get tougher. You may need heated stuff to then kind of soften it as you pull the support away.
On cylinder vs tree, there’s a hybrid setting that uses both where appropriate. Bet that’s what was selected.

I would even add some sandpaper to get the rest of it perfect.
