Trouble with supports

I am trying to print the part in the pics with a 0.6 nozzle and cannot get supports that will come off, or if the z distance is too big the bottom layer of the part above the supports are just strings floating and not connected. I have tried a z distance of .3-.5. I think it is because the supported surface is angled and not flat. Any help would be appreciated. Using petg at defaults and 0.3 mm layer height

You could try using PLA as a support interface, that could help the supports come off easier?

Since it is angled, there would be a lot of filament changes

You can try to set the “Support/raft interface” to PLA and “Base pattern” to “Rectilinear” so you can set the “Top Z distance” to Zero. It reduces the Filament changes and only the last layer between support and model is PLA.
