I’m trying to fix a friend’s X1C. After updating the firmware, I decided to run a “Device self-test.” The first thing it did was heat the nozzle to 80C, which it succeeded in doing, but the test didn’t proceed any further (i.e. onto the heat bed temperature test).
What I know:
- I can manually control the nozzle and heat bed temperatures.
- I can manually control the speeds of the three main fans (part, aux, exhaust).
- When the nozzle temperature goes above 50C, the fourth fan (hotend heatsink fan) turns on as expected, and turns off as expected when the temperature drops below 50C. However, it does seem louder than the one in my own X1C.
- There are no errors being reported about abnormal fan speeds.
- I can home the axes and command their positions from the menu.
Can I get some advice on what to check next? Since the self test gets stuck, I’m not getting any useful information out of the printer that would help me diagnose the problem.
