Trying to purge filliment while bed is heating up, nozzle is not to tempature?

When bed is being heated up, it tries to feed fillament threw cold extruder. It just sets there clicking till bed gets to temapure.Then it stops trying to feed.

  • Slicer settings used
  • Does this on all Types of filament used
  • .3mf file not revelent as it does on different files

You can control this manually on your printer using the touch panel e.g., heat the nozzle. Check if the nozzle heats up at all; an error message should appear if it doesn’t. Touch it very carefully to avoid burning yourself; or a thermometer will work too; you don’t have to set it to the maximum temperature.

Then try loading the filament manually to see if it works or fails. You’ll also see that the gear/logo on the front of the print head should be turning.

If it’s just making clicking noises now, then either your nozzle is clogged, or there’s something wrong with the extruder - for example, pieces of filament are jammed.

Either way, the printer should actually display an error message - doesn’t it?

What firmware version is your printer running?

On the printer, it’s 01.08.01.00 On the AMS it’s 00.00.08.15. I have noticed that the AMS is acting up too. I doesn’t always feed or pull back while printing. This is happening randomly. I was thinking of doing a “return to factory” on both and see if that fixes it.

The hot end heats up just fine. Nothing stuck in the feeding system. The problem is it’s trying to feed in the wrong step.

Have you modified your start gcode at all?

Yes, but I put it back to what it was. Maybe it didn’t take? Is there a way to do it that’s better, put it back to factory?

If you run any of the gcode that was shipped with the printer aka the benchy, does it do that same thing?

Understand that Rerunning gcode sliced with the modified start gcode will exhibit the same issue.

You need to revert your changes and reslice the your model with the original start gcode.

Not knowing what you changed it I would suggest a factory reset on the printer and an uninstall/reinstall of Bambu Studio.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure where the start G-code was stored. So, doing both should repair it?

The process is

  • Model is sliced in Bambu Studio
  • Sliced gcode is set to the printer
  • gcode is stored on the printer SD Card (the entire file for that model)
  • Printer reads that file from the SD card
  • if you re print from the printer interface or Handy it used the gcode stored on the printer/cloud
  • if you reslice and send the print again from Bambu Studio it will replace the file on the printer and use that.

The start gcode is stored in Bambu Studio and added to each gcode file that is sliced and remains with that gcode file.
