Trying to understand the benefit of the switcher with many AMS units?

Hello, just trying to understand what would be the benefit for those of us with say 4 or more AMS on H2C machines? I guess I’m asking how exactly would that work?

You just use a 4-in-1 splitter at the input of the switcher. Let’s say you have 2 AMS on each nozzle and you can choose between 8 colors on each nozzle currently or 16 colors with the switcher. It saves the proper ordering of the spools, you now don’t care where they are, they all can be used on any of the nozzles.

I’d like to eventually see Bambu do something like a “AMS Nexus” for folks running multiple printers and who own multiple AMS units. Multiple inputs, one for each AMS, and then each printer input hooks into the unit, then it’ll route filament to whichever printer is calling for it.

There’s obviously some major shortcomings, especially with simultaneous multicolor printing, or if one AMS has two filaments that are “in demand” at the same time.

I share a AMS between my P1S and H2C and I use this: Of course it’s not automatic but I remember one user having built something that is if not automatic was remotely controlled. I also hope bambu comes up with such a device.
