I purchased a 0.4 mm tungsten carbide nozzle from Bambu Lab. Upon inspecting it prior to using it for printing engineering filaments, I noticed that the nozzle opening does not appear to be centered. When viewed closely, the opening also appears to be slightly angled rather than straight through. Based on my experience, this does not seem normal for a precision tungsten carbide nozzle, and I am concerned this may be a manufacturing defect.
I don’t have one of those nozzles but that is not normal and I recommend contacting support. This will most likely cause some defects in the print as the filament won’t properly be smushed around the nozzle.
Thanks for sharing the clear photos. Even if print quality does not degrade immediately, an off-center orifice guarantees asymmetric wear when running abrasive filament. That is not a theoretical concern. It is a predictable outcome.
More importantly, this is a premium-priced nozzle. You paid for something marketed as high-end, not commodity hardware. The equivalent analogy is paying for Pirelli racing tires and receiving something that barely meets minimum spec. The issue is not aesthetics. It is basic concentricity.
If this part had been received into my company, it would have been rejected at inbound inspection as nonconforming. Off-center drilling is a fundamental manufacturing defect, not a cosmetic variance. If this were my money, I would demand a warranty replacement with a properly manufactured nozzle.
Be prepared, however, for a response that reflects what the Chinese often call “Chabuduo” (差不多), meaning “close enough.” That mindset may explain how a defect like this passed QC, but it does not justify charging a premium price for it.
The nozzle doesn’t just extrude plastic, it also “irons” the extrusion to make it flat. If the hole is off center, that ironing will be off center, too. IMO this nozzle is defective and won’t produce the same quality of print a properly centered orifice would produce.
Absolutely correct. I remember once I payed $10 for a set of 50 cheap nozzles for my Ender 3 Pro. Many of their holes weren’t drilled center, heck some of them weren’t even holes to begin with. The numbers on the side that identified the nozzle size wore off immediately. I finally bought a set of 3 nozzles for $40 from Microswiss, made right here in America. Let’s just say they outlasted my printer’s entire hotend assembly twice. I had to take that nozzle off with some big pliers MANY times, and the nozzle still has perfect threads, and no visible scratches. You should get what you pay for, and a premium tungsten carbide nozzle should be PERFECT machining with no defects. Just shows how messed up everything is. It is beyond crazy you can take a $800 printer and throw a $60 nozzle at it and you (well with that nozzle) get worse print quality, let alone even having to deal with that kind of quality control to begin with.
EDIT: I also really want to check the nozzle on my P2S now because I have had bad print quality on it like many others had, and I wonder if this might be a common machining error Bambu has that no one has recognized yet.
I may be wrong but it seems small for 0.4mm. Is it really the orifice you’re seeing or part of it with some filament residue from production around it. You may want to try to purge it or do a cold pull and re-inspect.
You should contact support for a replacement. The “angle” you speak of probably isn’t important, as it’s held constant, but the orifice being off center so dramatically is a legitimate problem.
Well most my parts usually come from New Jersey this one came from Los angeles. Almost makes me believe that they use a third party vendor because it did not come from an address or a name of a company that resembles them. It’s almost like they may have the tip dipped by third party
Well the strange part is it did not come from their normal Warehouse it came from Los Angeles from a company I’ve never heard of. Makes me wonder if they’re a third party that just dips the tip and that’s it. Even though I bought it from the official website
They ship from CA and NJ. Ports are at both and of course that’s where the items come in. Address is usually “online seller” or “website seller”, something along those lines.

Packages will come through USPS or UPS depending on size. I’ve had build plates and filament come by UPS from NJ. I’ve had small parts or Maker Supply parts from either but they almost always ship USPS unless coming with something larger. Printers are usually (I don’t know if always) FedEx.
2 warehouses serve east and west better than one location. I would imagine if one is out of something the other can fill in. Sure there’s more to it though.
I have looked into this fairly extensively over the last two years. As part of my day job, I routinely verify whether companies are subject to US Department of Commerce restrictions, so I applied the same due-diligence methods to Bambu Lab. None of this information is obscure or difficult to find.
Bambu Lab lists a Texas address for its US presence, but available public records and prior forum discussions suggest this location functions as an administrative or mail-drop address rather than a staffed operating site. I could not find any evidence that it represents a meaningful US payroll or operational footprint.
Warehousing and fulfillment are harder to obscure. Since late 2022, Bambu Lab has relied on third-party logistics providers on both the East and West Coasts. Those fulfillment addresses have changed multiple times over that period. While rapid growth can explain some of this churn, it also points to a fulfillment model that has lacked long-term stability.
Given that context, a shipment originating from Los Angeles via an unfamiliar third-party company is not particularly surprising. It is consistent with Bambu Lab’s historical use of external logistics partners rather than a single, fixed US warehouse operation. The same was true of the New Jersey location I drove by last year, which showed clear third-party logistics branding but no visible Bambu Lab presence.
None of this is a smoking gun or an accusation. It does, however, help explain why shipping quality and consistency can vary. When fulfillment is handled by rotating third-party operators rather than an in-house team, quality control and accountability tend to be harder to enforce.
