While disassembling the extruder of my Bambu Lab P2S, I noticed two internal fins (or tabs) that don’t seem to have any clear functional purpose. Interestingly, they actually make it a bit harder to access two of the four main screws when removing the extruder, so they definitely seem to be there for a reason.
I’m wondering if anyone has more information or theories about them. My guess is that they might be intended for some future accessory or module, perhaps something similar to the cutting head mechanism used in the H2S.
Has anyone else noticed this or found an explanation for these parts?
Hasn’t there also been a point in the calibration menu mentioning something like “remove all accessories from the toolhead”.
Some figured it’s only there, cause the firmware and touchpanel come from the H2 series.
And the shape of the plastic around it is perfect if you want to have a precise locating for an accessory…
Anyway, I used the upper fins for my dial indicator holder, in order to make a nice tramming of my bed, they are sturdy and precise so for sure they are made for a particular purpose.
Sorry I missed this thread when posting about this again just now, the H2 series cutting module does fit, the laser module does not as the fins are seemingly purposely too thick.
