Hi, a user says he can’t give 5 stars because the system prevents him from doing so.
Is there a bug or is it a feature?

I’ve experienced myself and mentioned it here before with others commenting they also experienced the same thing.
Sometimes the printer doesn’t register a successful print even if the print was successful and the user didn’t tell the printer at the end the print failed.
I printed a model that I really liked which went very well, no issues, the printer didn’t report any problems either.
I went to review it when prompted and tried selecting 5 stars and it told me I couldn’t as I needed at least one successful print, it was then I noticed it had marked the only time I printed it as failed, despite my not experiencing any issues.
I decided not to rate the model as I felt incorrectly rating it poorly was worse than not rating it.
Unfortunately, not all consider that and I have been on the receiving end of a well-meaning person who felt a 3-star review was better than nothing. Entirely unaware it’s actually a negative review that can have consequences.
I thought the only limitation was 3 or less for a failure, I wasn’t aware of a no more than 4 rating issue.
Suggestion
Use the report button to inform BL of the issue and they may adjust the rating as it’s clear that was the user’s intention or remove it entirely.
I had a couple of malicious ratings successfully removed.

Sorry but since when is 4stars a negative? Thats a bit rich in my opinion.

Exactly. I can see 3 stars being “negative” because you earn less points if the average rating for a print profile goes below a 4.0. If someone rates my model with a 4 it would always be appreciated to know what could make it better, but not required.

I see this from a different perspective, I would like to give the creator 4/5 stars on a successful print which I am unable to on some occasions as the print has not registered a successful print. I don’t feel it is fair on the person who went to the trouble to provide a model and doesn’t get the credit they deserve. I would like an option where I can change the status.
I found this happens when you cancel a print thats gone through the cloud
which you then reprint from the saved file on the sdcard . it appears it needs to be re/registered via the cloud for it to count
Yeah, I have several prints I cannot give above 3 stars because Studio and Handy think it failed. So I didn’t leave a rating. I don’t really want to print those again just to rate it. Wish I could.
Only happened one time before, but it has happened again. I printed AMS Flipper Glass Slider Riser V6 – P1S X1C (AMS Flipper Glass Slider Riser V6 – P1S X1C - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld) completely successful and it would not let me rate 4 or 5 starts because it said “To give a 4-5 star rating, at least one successful print record of this print profile is required”
I gave a boost, which may be better anyway, but this needs to get fixed./
Shrink it down to 1 percent in studio and reprint it.
Or just dont leave a rating
How is 4 stars negative ? Its 1 though 5 so 2.5 would be average.
It would not let me print at 1 percent but I did successfully print at 15% and was able to leave 5-star rating - thanks for the idea.

modern internet norms say that anything less than 100% ratings are treated as negative from the platforms metrics

I also see it as “what is wrong?”. If you take a star off, explain the reason for it.
I dont like seeing ratings that are 4 starts but then the person praises in the comment. It sends different signals. But most of the time I ignore it.
Unless there is some kind of chart or something I dont understand how to rate anything. 5 stars if its is a successful print and 1 star if its not ? what are the other stars even for? 5 Stars should represent PERFECT , not successful , Do everyone really believe their stuff is perfect. Is there an example of what a 3 star rating would be used for ? or a 4 Star rating. And since I am rating the profile and not the model, is checking the “enable supports” box really worthy of 5 stars? Many of the profiles I have downloaded have done nothing more than enable supports.
That is one of the reasons why rating is can be very stupid. Most people use the default profiles anyway with small differences like changing the infill or enabling supports.
Here’s how I break it down:
= Profile is utter shịt and will not print. Like having it print in mid air or having no bed adhesion because the model has a very small contact area with bed. This is a rare rating if the models has a real print image. One star is it will fail every single time.
= significant issues. I do not use this one much. But it is a slightly nicer 1 star or slightly meaner 3 star.
= The model printed but the defects are bad enough that the part is unusable.
= minor defects like banding or warping, but the model is completely acceptable. Model is dimensionally accurate.
= Perfect. Or being nicer than a 4 star and accepting that some small defects are normal.
The problem is if I dont like their choice of infill or supports I am still supposed to give them a 5 star rating
I could live with a break down like that. but most creators couldn’t, the moment I gave a 4 star they would be on the forums or the comment section, bad mouthing me, blaming my wet PLA or my printer or something, If the model printed they expect 5 stars.
Yeah, basically if it prints out like what in the photo → 5 star. That’s the git of it. That’s what we are expecting.
You can change print setting to your liking before print, but doing so you should not rate the print profile.
For example, the print profile has manual support with only a small section of bottom surface painted for support. That is for internal structure. But then a user changes it to auto support and now he can’t remove the support that get stucked in the internal. And then he rates print profile 1 star. I guess some people doesn’t have the moral compass pointing up north but north-east or something.
Modern internet rating nowsaday is just like demerit points of Australia driver license. You are given 13 points at start and you lose point if you violate the rules.
Off topic: But when it comes to rating on Aliexpress or Amazon, you should only considering the number after decimal point. Like 4.9 star = 9 out of 10 or 4.1 star = 1 out of 10
So I can take a pic of my print and then a copy of the AI image or photoshoped/enhanced image and post them in the comments and give less than 5 stars, because I cant print anything that looks like the photos.
There are 3 audiences who interpret the star ratings
The platform - makerworld’s algorithm is in the business of showing 5 star models to people who search for them. If your model is not perfect 5 stars you are demoted compared to those who do, end of story
The author - You are financially invested in making the platform promote your design, so despite reality saying that 4 star + explanation is good data, it is equivalent to a downvote to the platform, so the author has to match in tone - not 5 star = defect
The user - Because of the above, the ratings are manipulated very high and anything nonperfect is lobbied to be removed, you can only really trust quality nebulously and via bulk. Junk doesn’t find its way averaging 4.8stars but it does find its way averaging 4.0 stars with a lot of removals, so you can only really trust a very narrow rating of over 4.5ish as a “pass/fail”…
TLDR not a good system since its aligned for financial performance metrics and not for objective reality/accuracy

For me, I just report the model as misleading content and provide picture of actual print in the report.
Those “creators” are scamming the system. You are being a victim just like the victim of identity theft, whose identity is being used to make a massive loan from the bank, they withdraw money and then vanish.
I had to read twice to understand you correctly. My intial thought was you want to use your result print and use AI to generate a different look of your print, to forge false proof in order to down rate the listing. I should know better.
The internet community is built on trust and honest. We all hate AI generated pictures, because it isn’t what the real thing actually be. And because most of the time, the result isn’t honest work but to scam or cheat. Just think of deepfake or chinese beauty filter, like this
