So I erroneously thought I had enough filament left on a spool to finish a multi object on one plate print.
For ease of over explanation, I had part A printing in blue PLA and part b printing in yellow pla, both using PVA as support interface, printing by object.
Unfortunately 90% of the way through part a I ran out of blue bla. Sadly, I cannot skip the part via the Bambu app because there is no filament in the ams slot even though I have already requested it be skipped via the app.
Anyone know a way around this (either for this print or for future prints) besides setting up the auto next spool thing, which I usually do, but didn’t this time because I thought I had enough filament, didn’t have any additional of this filament, and a different color PLA would have looked like garbage.
Again, mostly just a rant/whining that skipping an object doesn’t actually immediately skip the object, so it won’t do anything because it’s upset it doesn’t have any more filament, even though in theory it wouldnt actually need more filament because you know, it’s being skipped.
Hi, just to check, did you pause the print before requesting the object skip? I made the mistake of not pausing once, and it kept trying to print the (tipped over) object, even after a pause and re-start. And after the first time an object is selected to be skipped, it can’t be selected/skipped again (from either the printer or Studio).
Was the issue specifically related to the filament running out, or did you already try to pause the print before that, once you realized there wouldn’t be enough?
Indeed, seems like the printer could be smarter about that when someone requests a skip. I mean why let you do it if it’s gonna ignore you anyway? Seems like a firmware bug.
I would imagine it’s the filament issue that stopped the skip, which you knew. I wonder if you had thrown another spool into that slot, let it feed, then skipped it if it would have. Since it’s a lost print anyway.
Well yeah, that would work, it would allow the printer to…. refill? The filament start/finish whatever layer it’s on then continue. The issue is I’m currently 200 miles away from the printer.
I mean I understand on the surface why it does it the way it does. The printer stopped itself in the middle of a layer because it ran out of filament so the first thing it’s trying to do is get more filament to finish the layer.
I don’t understand why skip isn’t a “stop what you’re doing immediately and go to next object” button.
How is the H2C….my H2S dreams of being an H2C….or maybe I dream of my H2S being an H2C….
Ah, I wasn’t sure if it ran out first or if you had tried to skip it before that already (that’s what I meant about pausing it first). Either way though, it could be smarter. It’s already so smart that we expect more!
Feeding it some filament is a good idea… will have to keep that in mind!
