Under extrusion after filament change on multicoloured prints

I have been troubleshooting an issue on my usually reliable P1S.

Seemingly out of no where I had issues with multicoloured prints.

First color would print fine, the second color would purge, then move to prime tower and under extrude terribly, then stop extruding the extruder was trying to extrude, but the gear would skip. As if the nozzle was blocked.

For the rest of the print, it would just move in fresh air, no spaghetti, no blubs just no extrusion.. all new rolls of bambu filament, PLA and PETG HF. Extruder skipping away.

Nothing I did helped.. changed filament, I cold pulled, replaced all the PTFE, swapped hot ends, disassembled the extruder, cleaned everything.. pulled apart the AMS, cleaned that, checked everything. Investigated heat creep… all this, multiple times looking for an issue that wasn’t there…

I rolled back the firmware for the printer from 01.09.01.00 to the previous version, still nothing.

It wasn’t until I noticed the AMS firmware was the same that I looked further. I rolled back the firmware to 01.07.00.00 where the AMS firmware changed. All my issues have now resolved.

In the handy app, once I rolled back the firmware once, more previous versions became available and I could see when the AMS firmware changed.

Hope this helps someone if they run into the same issue.
