Under extrusion on x1c with ams

Hello forum.
I got a x1c early this year and printing one roll was perfect … Almost no fail prints.
A month ago, I got my AMS and I had to learn a lot … Roll diameter to provite the back wrapping the filament after prints etc.

But since a week I got cloggs every print I start. No matter which slot, or filament i choose.

At first I cleaned the hotend and the extruder. Then I changed tubes, filament sensor and hotend.

Sometimes the first layer has under extrusion already.

Sometimes the surface gets ok, sometimes not.

If I got total spaghetti the printer stops and gives a message. But the most it finished the print and there are just a few layers and a handful crumbs.

  • Printer model used
My printer is the Bambus Lab x1c and the ams with the newest update

  • Slicer settings used
Most parts I print with 0.4mm duse, 0.2mm layer height and standard speed. Small parts with 0.08mm layer and fine parts with ironing.
  • Type of filament used
All colour of pla of different brand (resin, sunlu, Amolen, poly terra … Etc.)
    TPU from overture
    And PETG from midory

I would be very grateful for any help

Kind regards, Bernd

My last print … Almost perfect, but at the very end it messed up at the ark on the top on the right

Have you tried doing flow calibration? Maybe wet filament? Or if using a cheaper brand of filament the diameters could be off and the extruder is not gripping it as well.

Wet filament.
It’s wet. wet filament, definately wet. (insert my Rain Man impersonation here)

The white shows clear signs of moisture. Even if a filament roll is new it can have enough moisture to ruin a print and make you pull your hair out.

You’ll need to dry it, either use your X1 to dry it (build plate, door closed), info somewhere in the wiki, or purchase a dryer, OR listen to someone else who built their own.

Since this is a wet filament post, I must mark it as such with this…

I made a few calibrations, with different filament and all dry, or right out the box.

I got better results now, when I print with higher layer 0,2mm. But it also stucks if I try multiple parts on one plate and after ironing

I’m glad you have better results, but please don’t make the mistake that all filament just opened is dry. Some manufacturers don’t ship perfectly dry filament. Siraya Tech filiment comes to mind, as does Bambu PETG-HF.

Just something to keep in mind as you go forward.
