Uneven 1st layer (X1E)

Hello guys.
In the following image you see a completely symmetrical part.

Could you please give me some ideas so I can have at the 1st layer the same smooth surface on the left side as it already is on the right side of the part?

I’m printing on a Smooth PEI plate. As filament I use Bambu Lab PLA matte.
The part is positioned on the plate as following:

Slicer Settings are as following:

After trying out some 1st layer height values, the lower I go, the better the result - that’s why you see 0.08mm there.
Whenever I start the printer, for the very first print I activate the bed leveling option (printed result above was the first print). The 3 leveling screws below the bed seem to be in the proper position.

I’m not going to dig through the slicer settings quite yet.

This is simple under-extrusion.

If you’re letting the printer do the flow calibration, go in to the filament profile and bump the flow # up a few 100ths. (if it’s 0.95 make it 0.98).

If you are manually calibrating this filament, do it again, you got it wrong. :slight_smile:

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Hmmm, actually it is already at 0.98 (automatically detected by the AMS/RFID):

Should I bump it up to e.g. 1.01 then?

What confuses me is the fact that there’s no noticeable underextrusion throughout the complete part - as you see, on the right side it seems to be ok.

Try printing it in the middle of the plate. If you see a good result it has something to do with bed leveling or having a curcy bed at that location, I dont think the print head probes that far out?

Alrighty, before I read RocketSled’s reply on adjusting the flow calibration, I started another print. Ahead of that print I ran a full calibration, i.e. including “printing” the calibration file, turning the screws back and forth and using a piece of paper in between the bed and the nozzle (to check when the nozzle is close).
This is how the print looked afterwards (bottom part):

One thing I still notice are the tiny holes/spots - not the intended 12 holes but this line of holes/spots. Any idea how I can get rid of them, or at least reduce them more?

That’s quite a bit better. Not sure you’re going to be able to improve on it to get those little gaps filled (assuming you have the “fill small gaps” thing enabled). You could try a teensy bit more flow, like 0.98 becomes 0.99.

This isn’t a fix, but to help get it looking maybe 10% better I like to enable “Only one wall on first layer”.
