I’m printing a tesseract I created in Fusion 360. As shown in the photo below, when the print level reaches the height of the inner cube, the vertical walls that rise up from there are slightly uneven (roughly 0.3 mm variation). All four wall have the exact same issue. I’ve only printed half of a smaller tesseract as I try different slicer settings to correct this (unsuccessfully). Printing a larger version exacerbates the issue significantly. All other parts of the print are beautiful.
My X1C is well maintained and I have fully recalibrated it and calibrated flow dynamics for the PLA Galaxy filament I’m using. I started with all standard settings in Bambu Studio (0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height) and tried varying speed and adjusting the Smooth coefficient under Quality > Advanced from 150 down to 50, both with no effect on the problem. I’m a moderately experienced user but I can’t think of any other slicer settings that might address this.
Any suggestions?
This is a prime example where the slicer previews can help a lot.
If you can post screenshots in particular of the flow, speed, layer time and fan previews as well as your filament settings (in particular cooling), we may find a smoking gun…

Thanks for your suggestions. Attached are the screenshots you suggested. What jumps out to me is that the area of uneven walls seems coincident with the change in travels at that area. I did a belt-tightening maintenance to see if that might be at issue, but no real change.
Have you tried setting the Precise Walls to on? I’m always running in developer mode so you may need to turn on advanced or developer mode to access this setting.
I don’t think the Smooth Coefficient settings will help you much, as it’s more for how quickly the print head slows down or speeds up when changing printing speeds, and your entire model seems to be printing at the same speed. The only time it’s slowing down or speeding up is between travel moves from looking at your screen shot images that you posted.

As expected, a major difference shows in the layer time. Try printing 2 pieces at the same time or force a prime tower by taking a smooth timelapse.

Thanks, Eno The Thracian, for the suggestion. It made sense to me but I tried smooth timelapse and it may have lessened the problem a little, but not enough. I was going to try it anyway on the full size piece but I’ve got an unrelated printer problem that I have to resolve first.

Hope your printer troubles are resolving without much hassle.
When you are able to try again, have a quick look at the new layer times with smooth timelapse. From the pic’s, they should be higher than 15s. Otherwise, we probably need to look for further/other root causes. That could be a bit tricky but should be doable.

I was able to print the full tesseract, using smooth timelapse. The first photo shows the full print; pretty good overall. If the light is coming down close to parallel to the wall, you can still see some unevenness, but even at just a 15 or 20 degrees off parallel, only the bulge near the vertical edge is visible. Even so, that shouldn’t happen. I would certainly appreciate any other suggestions you might have, just for my own learning. Many thanks.
