Years ago, I posted a remix on MW that was really well received. The original model came from another site and was, of course, linked. Today, I received a message saying that my model had been removed because it violated remix guidelines.
I disagree, but that’s not my problem. What really bothers me right now is how rude the appeal process is.
It says in capital letters that you only have “ONE chance” to start an appeal and that you should be “very deatiled” in your description of your points. And then you only get a text field with a maximum of 300 characters to present your point of view and evidence. Really?!
That’s not an appeal option, it’s rude to everyone who invests work in their own models or remixes and may be unfairly affected.
As I said, I’m not concerned about my model directly. But you have little chance of clarifying the matter if you can provide hardly any information and then only get one chance at all …
I think Makerworld is being cheeky in this regard. Or is that only me?!
If you translate your English text into Chinese, you will save quite a few characters.

…so if you use any online translator, you’ll have about 1,000-1,500 characters now. Chinese grammar is pretty easy, so don’t worry, you’ll get your point across with simple machine translation. I mean, not that it helps much or anything and I do see your point…
Heck even as a Chinese I can’t bear with this ridiculous limit. 300 characters is totally ridiculous and can only make all the non chinese speakers suffer…
This may not be the most popular opinion, but why not use AI to shorten the text? This is a situation where it would really come in handy. You can also switch from normal to professional language. Although it doesn’t solve the actual problem, it has often helped me appear professional and stay within text field limits.
This website does that quite well, and then there’s ChatGPT.
For example - some made-up business text:
“I would like to formally register an issue with the report you sent me. I have the invoice in my possession and am therefore authorised to post it. I am unable to comprehend your line of thinking. Should you require any further documentation, please do not hesitate to contact me via email.”
Short - ChatGPT:
“I wish to register an issue with your report. I hold the invoice and am authorised to post it. I do not understand your reasoning. If further documentation is needed, please contact me via email.”
300 charaters is very limited. But this doesn’t sound right. If I remember correctly, some users showed their appeals on this forum before. They could put a lot of words on.
Wonder if this is a bug. Have you created a ticket for MW to look into?
Maybe bambu is using the character limit to promote their upcoming url shortening service business. Some urls will take half those characters! Can’t paste in your evidence if you’re not using the new service! This message, including this bit, is designed to fit within 300 characters. Refridgerator
Am I right in assuming that it’s not possible to attach images or PDFs? If so, that’s really inconvenient. Most importantly, how are users supposed to know which links are allowed and which aren’t? Surely not all file upload services are permitted.
When I think about the companies I’ve worked for, the support team always had problems opening links because the firewall blocked everything.
You actually can upload some images. But images only, no PDF.
But I would not put my text into some images and upload it. You never know how they handle images or where in the world the support-tech is currently located, and it’s harder to translate images.
It boils down to the fact, that you only have one chance. And I would also not risk it with some text-image upload …
what you can try to do is type up the appeal in a text program screen shot it an tell them to read it (mark and upload the pic’s in the reading order) because of the limited text space.
include pictures of the process of you makeing the model.
a side by side pic of the one you remixed vs your model circle the differances. be shure to include under what licence ite original is posted to gether with a typed link to the og model.
dont know if this works but you could try it.
