I have a kickstarter X1C with less than 1000 hours that had served me well. I am interested in “upgrading” it to a X2D, as I am interested in the auxiliary nozzle for easier supports use.
Over the years, I’ve managed to stock enough X1C parts and also build plates. I understand that the X2D uses different nozzles, I am wondering if I can use the X1C build plates with the X2D (they should be the same size), because I have more than 12 available (various kinds) and would be great if I can use them (I do use them together with my A1 combo).
I also would like some clarification regarding AMS. I have the original AMS unit that I have upgraded it with the SUNLU filament drier and works very well. Is it possible to connect this also to the X2C together with the AMS2 Pro and use the Filament Track switch so that I can mix filaments easier. Do I also need to buy any sort of power adapter or the X2D can power both?
You should be able to use the build plates, only problem is that you are going to get an error message due to the AI not being able to read the QR code associated with the plate. But you can ignore it and continue. Another possibility is to buy cheap stickers with the qr code and add it to your plates
Zero chance there will be an option to upgrade the X1C into an X2C.
Bambu’s AMS architecture is currently unified; you can use the OG AMS with any printer, and that won’t change anytime soon. The Filament Track Switcher works for the OG AMS, the 2 Pro, and the HT. Possibly the Lite as well, but I don’t care enough about that one to find out. P2S will be able to operate both AMS units at once, but the Pro may require the external power supply to be able to dry while the other AMS is printing.
You can use your build plates and AMS and that’s about it. The new X will share more with the new P than the old X. You still will have quite the upgrade though.
It’s understandable for P2S to use AI to detect plate, but there is no reason for X2D to use unreliable method instead of just move the toolhead and scan the qr code. Hope this will be fixed in firmware update. For now I have to disabled it, already got a mistake print ABS on cool plate…
