I suppose it’s possible, but you’ll have to bypass the feeder. You should be able to use the TPU outlet port on the back of the lid.
No, you can not. I’ve learned this through 2 days of frustration and disappointment. The P2S standalone purchase option (not printer+ams combo) does not ship with the filament buffer at all.
I chose the printer only purchase option because (1), the combo option was on back order until mid February at the time I purchased and (2) the AMS 2 Pro is limited to maximum drying temperature of only 65C. Not hot enough for any of their own filaments except PLA or PETG along with their respective CF variants. I plan on using some engineering level filaments which require 70C - 100C drying temperature.
Therefore, for my setup, I want to use 4 separate AMS-HTs connected to my P2S so that I can dry and use filaments other than PLA or PETG with various temperatures on each AMS-HT simultaneously.
Like many others based on the amount of wiki conversations, there was no mention at all that the unique P2S filament buffer was not included in the printer only purchase option or that you must have it to use any AMS. They have since added a note on the P2S purchase page about this but many are still finding it confusing. Also like many others, I purchased an AMS Hub to use in place of the filament buffer just like you would on the other printer models. Turns out, AMS Hub is not compatible with P2S!
As a caveat, the P2S Filament Buffer is out of stock leaving anyone who did not purchase a Printer+AMS 2 combo no way at all to use their P2S other than the simple 1 exterior spool on the arm.
Now here’s the real kicker… you actually can not even turn on an AMS-HT without it being connected to the P2S Filament Buffer! So, now I sit here staring at a brand new printer and 4 new AMS-HTs that can not even be used until the P2S specific filament buffer is back in stock and then takes about 7 days to arrive via UPS!

NO. You CAN NOT ATTACH an AMS-HT to P2S without the specific Filament Buffer that you CAN NOT BUY until they are back in stock! Very frustrating!
I’m missing something. Why would a printer that doesn’t have an AMS come with an AMS buffer? I’m not 100% sure but reasonably sure that when I purchased my HTs it was clear they needed a buffer.
Bought a P1P stand alone. Had to buy a buffer. Bought a P1S stand alone, had to buy a buffer.
Not trying to ■■■■on you, but if it didn’t come with an AMS why would it come with a buffer?
On Aliexpress there are some “original” bambu lab p2s buffers.
If you are planning to dry any kind of filament at high temperatures, make sure that the spool itself can withstand the desired temperature! BambuLab PLA and PETG spools are labeled “70°C Max”.

The short answer is no. The AMS is what advances and retracts the filament when needed. Even if you stood at the printer and did it manually studio isn’t going to recognize the multiple spools without an AMS attached.
Longer “well technically” answer. You could put two external spool holders on and add a complex series of pauses to the print… then swap the filament manually at each pause. You wouldn’t even need the buffer for this and it would probably be a nightmare to do.

Some additional observations:
1.) There are available modifications for the AMS HT that allow printing and drying simultaneously. These involve adjusting the internal front roller of the AMS HT so that the filament spool can rotate freely during operation.
2.) Many brittle or highly flexible filaments can be processed through the AMS feeder. In addition, the AMS HT provides a dedicated front outlet designed specifically for such materials. I previously watched a video in which a YouTuber positioned the AMS HT above the P2S and successfully printed TPU 90A while using the AMS HT’s drying function at the same time.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the video, as I viewed it several months ago. However, since my AMS HT is scheduled to arrive this week, I plan to test this approach with my technical filament (Siraya Tech PET-CF) in the coming weeks and will report back on the results.
Why buy a AMS-Ht at all if it’s only for drying using the rear outlet to feed the printer? In that case it’s not an AMS anymore as it will only be recognized as an external spool. You better then just buy a dryer with an oulet
Been using a1 mini with AMS, I too just got a p2s and realized I have to drop another 41 dollars on the new buffer… they got me with the a1 too saying you need the a1 filament buffer… NO you do not, the one that comes with the original AMS works the same, just gotta print a different bracket. Kind of annoyed. The printer is really 580 plus tax, not 550 plus tax. Why do I say that? How many people are really buying a p2s for single material?
