Using the same mixed filament colors for supports and model

Hello Hello. I’m very new to the Bambu A1/AMS Lite, but I’m enjoying learning and experimenting. Right now I’m trying to figure out a way to set up this situation:

  • Spool 1 = white
  • Spool 2 = yellow
  • Spool 3 empty
  • Spool 4 empty
  • Virtual spool 3 = mixed white/yellow

I want to print my model 100% in the mixed white/yellow color, virtual spool 3.

The problem is that I can’t figure out a way to build the supports in the same mixed white/yellow color. The system will let me pick white or yellow for the supports, but not the mixed white/yellow.

Using either white or yellow for the supports slices into an extremely long print with way too many purges. All I want is for everything, the print and the supports using the mixed white/yellow color. This should reduce my purges to near zero (I think?)

Any ideas???

I have just set this up using your rules.

I suspect you went to the support section and tried to assign which filament (colour) would be used for the support.

Did you actually slice the model?

I did, without setting the support filament, it slices with the support matching the mixed, sole colour set from the two primary choices.

It works, just don’t try to set the support choice as it isn’t required.

Thank you too much. Gotta love people that like to share their knowledge !

Yet another way: If you want certain height ranges of the print (including all models and support) to be in a different colour, you can also tell Bambu Studio to switch filament at certain layers.

For that, prepare everything for a single color print and slice once.
Then in the preview window, you have the slider at the right side to select individual layers. Put the upper slider handle to the layer where you want to switch to a different filament and click right directly on the handle. There you should have the option “switch filament”. When you want to switch back to the first filament or even a third, repeat at a different height.
When you are finished, slice again and everything should be coloured in the different filament from the switch on upwards.
