Using Third-Party Extractor with H2D Laser

Hi everyone,

I’m considering purchasing the Bambu Lab H2D with the laser engraving module. However, I have a concern regarding the smoke extraction system.

Bambu Lab recommends using their smoke extractor with an external exhaust hose that must be vented through a window. Unfortunately, in my setup, the nearest window is too far away to make this feasible.

I’ve noticed that some other brands, like WeCreat and xTool, and other no-name on Amazon offer desktop smoke extractors that don’t require any external exhaust. These systems are fully enclosed and filter the fumes internally, making them more practical for limited spaces.

Since laser engraving will only represent a very small and occasional part of my usage (mostly for small, one-off projects), I’m wondering:
Would it be possible (or safe) to use a third-party desktop smoke extractor instead of Bambu Lab’s official solution?

Any feedback or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can use another brand of extractor. I use a Creality Falcon Smoke Purifier. Works very well.

Do you use an adapter for the hose, or does it work as if it were the Bambu?

the bambu one is pretty much identical to those, all of them recommend that you vent outside, but if you don’t there is indeed quite a few filters inside to mitigate the fumes

If you don’t vent to the outside, some odor will always remain. However, most substances can be detected by smell long before they show up on a VOC meter.

In my case, I can open the window to ventilate, but it’s on the opposite side of the printer, so I can’t run a hose out.

I’m hesitating between these two extractors: the Creality (which I can get for €509 on the French store) or the WeCreat (which I can get for €399 on the French store again).
I get the impression that they’re technically equivalent, even though it’s really not easy to find information about them…

If anyone has any ideas, I’m all ears!

I am using the one from Creality and it works well.

Did you mount the Creality Fume Extractor directly to the H2D’s outlet? …if yes, how do you avoid under- or over- pressure in the H2D? The Fume Extractor has it’s own suction fan in it, right?
