I have 3 H2D around 3 months now… and to be honest I’m more happy with my P1S’s!
Anyway…
One of the problems I have since the beginning is that they are over extruding at the top layers (is that possible?) It looks like elephant foot but reverse on top. Bambu PLA filaments, stock profile with AUX fan off, no ironing. I have attached a couple of photos to show you.
The other major problem is bed adhesion with PLA (!), mainly on long prints and multiple parts on the bed. I have tried/trying everything with no success…!
I have a small 3D printing business and it’s frustrating to spend more time troubleshooting than printing. It reminds me the days back with Creality Enders…
Cold (unfortunately) water and I was about to take a photo of the dish soap and realized it says lemon scent, which I believe it’s not good for adhesion! Jeez… I’m blind! I’ll try another one…
Regarding the top layer, my feeling is that it is related to the adhesion problem as the top layers shrink and curl the part up it prints where the outside wall should be and this gives it the “reverse” elephant foot that your seeing. The top roughness is also a sign of the part pulling up.
The center of the part looks like you are slightly over extruding to me, which would also exaggerate the other issues.
That was going to be my first question. The odd top layer issue looked to be from the print possibly lifting up.
As far as bed adhesion issues… the printer is good, but I do think some of the plates come to people with contaminants. Sometimes they can be easily washed off, sometimes they can’t. People have have good results with a slightly abrasive wash (like specialize steel wool, or light scotch bright pads) but I caution folks on that because its easy to go too far. I’m assuming there’s something in the manufacturing process like silicone or something similar that can stay on the plate and cause problems. Personally, I say go-to-town on the plate with Dawn soap and a medium firm nylon brush for pots and pans.
This is something I have never had a problem with. I am using Bambu and Polymaker PLA, PLA, PLA-HT and the Textured PEI plate and I dry them all. Even drying PLA helps. I have never had to use glue on the PEI plate.
I washed all beds with the new soap… and start printing my last job again. No lifting at all, and the adhesion when I tried to remove the print from the bed felt much stronger! Fingers crossed…!!!
I’ll keep testing and come back in a week or so with the results.
The top layers problem remains, but definitely not that much!
Search Walmart for Salon Grafix Professional Mega Hold Freezing Hair Spray get the level 5 freeze control coat your entire plate the first time really good with it give it few minutes to start drying and the bed heating up will dry it rest of way after first time just spray the areas missing hairspray after you remove a print and you will never have adhesion issues again…For years I constantly had failed prints on multiple printer models from adhesion issues after coming across a youtube short video of a guy showing himself using this hairspray and how hard it was to remove a print off the plate afterwards I just had to try it since then I’ve never had a failed print due to adhesion issues……..
I think the adhesion problem is gone for good (fingers crossed) with the new dish soap!
I tried again the job with the wheel using the default printing/filament profiles… I got better result on the edge around the wheel but not near as perfect (like it’s on the centre)…! Should I open a ticket in Bambu or it’s a waste of time?
Also, again on the H2Ds the nozzles (0.4) clog quite often, even with PLA! WTH?!
Whenever I use PETG as support material and PETG touches the bed (base/interface), Studio turns the bed temperature to 70c… as we know PLA bed temperature is 55c!
As a result PLA expands (?) and I was getting that over-extrusion thing!
FYI… Bambu support was no help at all, they told me just to re-orient the part… And that was after I send them the file to check it!
I use Dove soap with 25% moisturizing cream or a normal soap Cien brand from Lidl. Guess what no issues since I rinse the plate until it squeaks. In 2800 hours I had to wash the plate TWICE. First when it was new and later when I dropped some filthy grease in it while cleaning the printer so just rinse it properly…
