Venting on H2 series

My printer is arriving later this week and on my X1C I have the rear vent hooked up to an inline exhaust to use when printing ABS, etc. to get rid of the toxic fumes. Anyway, I know the H2 have the vent flaps on the rear that open and close, but when printing ABS, ASA, etc. will they open to allow for an exhaust attachment and how will that affect the internal temperature?

It’s doing internal cycling for filtration. You shouldn’t force extract air for high temp filaments.

There was an update today. Couldn’t find any additional details about it, but it sounds like it will allow for a venting process after the print is done. That would be ideal for such materials I guess.

That’s only for the P2S. Hopefully we also get that level of fan control for the H2 series printers too.

Yes i would guess so. Something like opening the vents and start the fan after a print finished would be nice.

That is only interesting if you have an exhaust attached.

On the other hand, warp sensitive materials need to cool down slowly, so venting the chamber is not always a good idea.

I think one of the most important changes to make is to put a sealed container on the poop chute. Bambu dropped the ball massively by leaving this open to the environment while touting a “sealed” environment.

Just using a sealed container will drastically reduce voc/particulate and smell without adding other filtration.

My opinion is that the filtration philosophy is flawed in the design and not correctable in a non-compromising manner. The ideal scenario is to have an enclosure over the H2 printer with its own air in and ducted exhaust. This allows the printer to act as it is designed while overcoming its filtration flaws from a consumption perspective. It’s not a path many would like though.

I am adding a duct to the exhaust, with passive filtration to the outdoors. I need to ensure it can’t be reverse driven by wind because i don’t want it creating positive pressure in the printer. A small spring loaded end fitting will do this.

You can already do this if you want. Enable develop mode>enable enhanced filtration>enable exhaust fan setting in filament profile>set print complete exhaust fan speed to what you’d like.

I may have the wording slightly wrong but it should be close.

Only thing to be mindful of is that it looks to default exhaust fan to 70% during printing which wouldn’t be good for filaments that need heated chamber.

Is there data on what the standard fan speed is during those prints using heated chamber? I presume 0% but with some of the â– â– â– â–  Bambu has pulled around their filtration system attempts I need to be sure :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s normally fan speed of 0 with back vent closed. When you enable the active filtration, it defaults to 70% across the board for every filament I checked, so you’ll want to tune each for your use case.

Yea, I believe it assumes you’ll be changing it if you enable that setting. If you leave it disabled it operates like normal by letting the Gcode handle what it does

When changing these parameters the exhaust-fan will start but the vent will remain closed, correct? Is there an option for lowering fan speed AND open up the back vent?
