Question: I’m trying to print something with PETG. It’s basically a thin, vertical ring which midway prints inwards horizontally before printing vertical again. It looks like many “adapters” out there used for a million purposes. Anyway…the 2 vertical rings print absolutely fine. But the horizontal part in the middle (3mm) consistently prints as a stringy mess. Then the vertical prints fine again. Why does the horizontal part do this? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
My guess is that you need to use support to print the “horizontal” ring as printing a circular object over air is something FDM printing really struggles with.

Yes I had tried several times previously to doing it without support. I think I may be doing it wrong. I have the Bambu PLA in the AMS as well as the PETG. When I tried printing the other times it wasn’t a lot better. The support was very very difficult to separate from the PETG. Is there a way to have support, but maybe not so dense?
That’s kind of a dumb question I guess. I’m going to try again with the tree supports and if it messes up again, I’ll post a picture…thanks again!
