Very weak Wifi reception

Here same issue. Lost connection lots off time in BambuStudio. My perspective it can’t be the router. Printer has a free line with the router. When im in the kitchen and check the wifi speed on my work and private phone (Android and Apple) then the speed and signal are ok. There are 3 walls in between…

Can this issue occur because of (sorry to say) cheap wifi hardware or wrong positioned wifi antenna inside my A1 Mini?

How many devices to you have on the router and how many bands does it have? Could be overcroweding.

My daugher has a A1 Mini with 2 walls and never has any issues. Now we have a dual band that has an IoT band and guest band. I have her printer and mine on our 2.4 guest. Neither printer has had connection issues since seperating them, so to speak, on the network.

This has worked for my setup with many IoT devices and a bandwidth hungry 12 year old, and the ususal phones/computers/game systems/ etc.

I have the TP-Link AX6000 Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX80). I don’t think this is special, just what I found to fit my needs and it works well.

If you have a mesh network, more than likely it is connecting to a non-optimal node.
i.e. it doesn’t choose wisely. The fix: Give your printer its own dedicated repeater, located in close physical proximity to it, and make sure that it pairs with that and nothing else. Then, if you ever move the printer, make sure that the repeater is moved along with it.

In my case, I’m using amazon’s eero 6+. So, when I set it up, I set it up initially with just one node for the printer to connect to. I make that node very close to the printer and do the binding. After that, I build out the rest of the mesh network from there. I think it probably binds to the MAC address rather than being smart and choosing what to connect to based on just the network ID and the possible strength of the connection. I.e. assume it is dumb, and do the thinking for it. Ever since doing it this way, I’ve had a great connection, especially for live stream camera viewing.

My router have 2 bands 2.4ghz (20 devices) and 5ghz (15 devices). Everything work without any issues for couple of years. Only the A1 Mini gets timeouts even with a -53dBm connection signal.

Today restarted my router to be sure the router is cleared everything. Still have the issue.

I accept this. When the file is loaded the printer does his job…

Total distance between router and printer is around 6 meter. It’s not a Mesh network. Just one router. 1 Meter more there is a ESP device and this device is running for 2 years without connection issues.

Does it radically improve if you bring your Bambu printer close to the router? If so, maybe you have a loose antenna wire. If not, maybe there’s strong interference. And if not that either, and all your other wifi devices are functioning without issue, then it’s probably time for you to submit a trouble ticket to Bambu tech support.

I will try that and see what happen. Thanks for the idea’s.

If your Wi-Fi is dragging and making your iPhone feel slower than it should, there are a few tricks you can try to give your speed a boost. One of the first things to do is to make sure you’re connected to the right network. If you have a dual-band router, your iPhone might automatically connect to the 2.4 GHz band, which is slower but has a longer range. If you’re close enough to your router, switch to the 5 GHz band, which offers faster speeds, though the range isn’t as wide.

Another thing you might not realize is that a cluttered Wi-Fi environment can seriously impact your speeds. If there are a bunch of devices connected to your network—like smart home gadgets, other phones, tablets, or even your neighbor’s Wi-Fi bleeding into your space—this can cause interference. Try moving closer to your router or, if possible, place your router in a central location in your home. This can help reduce that interference and improve your connection.
Lastly, make sure your iPhone’s software is up to date. Apple periodically releases updates that can optimize performance, including how your iPhone handles Wi-Fi. Just go to Settings > General > Software Update and see if there’s anything new.

If you have problem persist after trying above solution, you can follow for more details instruction below.

Not just with Bambu printers but also other devices I had and have WiFi issues.
Yes, it does help to have the modem close by or a WiFi extender plugged in next to the printer…
But it also is something we should not have to do.

So what’s the real issue here that makes some devices so bad in otherwise perfect WiFi conditions?

  1. Shielding…
Ever seen properly shielded powerboards in your printer ?
Or any shielded boards for that matter?
EMF interference is a real issue inside our printers.
The motors are not grounded, the cabling not shielded, nothing is really.
A lot of this messes with our Wifi signal and the processing of them.

  2. Connectivity…
You would think that a machine MEANT TO BE USED with WiFi would come with at least some half decent antenna.
    Nope…
How about the WiFi antenna in a good location to avoid interference and other hassles ?
    Nope…

  3. Optional improvements or a proper Ethernet connection?
    Are you kidding?
It would be way to logical to allow people with a bunch of these costly machines to hook them up on a simple Ethernet switch with a fixed IP…
And a proper EXTERNAL WiFi antenna, even as an optional extra is just unthinkable…
That despite so many of their valued customers asking for it since day one…

So can we just whack some nice WiFi antenna in there and be done with it?
Nope…
For starters there is no proper connector that I am aware of but please correct me on that one.
With no shielding anywhere where things should be shielded the required cable for the antenna would be grounded to what the rest of the system is grounded to - and the electronics are all free floating.
We MIGHT get a better signal strength but nor necessarily as better signal.
Even the most basic devices with a USB port these days that have a Linux or similar hardware base is able to accept Ethernet to USB converters.
Bambu though does not have anything implemented in their firmware that would allow us to use them.
With not even any type of confirmation that USB hardware was detected we can even check the available models.
Not that they would work while the firmware does not have any other option than WiFi.
Considering the safety hype Bambu insists on it must be a bad joke - either one of the two that is.

For crying out loud:
X1 WiFi antenna
What do you think they cost on AliExpress or such sites?
As said, dirt cheap throughout.
Now go and check what’s out there in PROPER WiFi antennas with THAT type of connector.
Just the cable for it costs more than twice of the Bambu solution…
For a good reason…
IF you are not shy of making a hole to get this antenna to the outside of your machine you can even add a reflector behind it and make it a bit directional.
Have it face the direction of your router and the signal strength should be almost twice as good already.
Chances are that this old modem in your spares box has a matching connector for the antenna.
Probably only for 2G but still something to play with and try.
Or one of those with a cable that has the matching connectors on the ends:
Cheap directional WiFi antenna
Won’t help much though in terms of the internal interference and cheap Wifi chips used.
