I wonder if the X1C will get support for the Vision Encoder plate for the X2D, since it does have a toolhead camera. Would be nice to be able to calibrate with it like the X2D can.
Anyone else think this is a viable idea?

X1C is end of life. Not gonna happen, sorry.
The X1C doesn’t have a tool head camera.

I really hate to disagree with Jon, but the X1C does have the LIDAR camera on the toolhead.
With X1Plus to provide SSH access to /userdata/log/cam/capture/, you can even see a few calibration images.
The images are interesting, but not useful.
But I agree with CarbonForge. X1C will remain as it is now; it will receive no new features from Bambu.

@lkraus is correct that there is a lidar camera on the X1C tookhead which I failed to mention. I’ve had to often clean the ABS smoo off of them on my printers. It is however my current understanding that this camera isn’t compatible with calibration plate. I’m happy to be wrong about this.
Yeah…I know the camera is used to read the symbols printed on the build plate when plate detection is enabled, plus it looks at the “Calibration Board” built on the right side of the heat bed that @lkraus included pics of.
Maybe Bambu will let the X1Plus team make a new firmware to support it…not sure. Just hoping it might happen somehow to keep these workhorses printing.
I’m probably gonna get the X2D combo within the month, then probably the H2C combo around Black Friday.
Theoretically it is possible, but realistically it won’t happen. The X1 isn’t likely to get any new features since it’s labeled EOL. I guess it’s possible the x1-plus crew could do something about it but has anyone even heard from them in a while?

Most X1Plus activity is on GitHub and Discord. The expansion board took a lot of effort, and I think the main developers have jobs and lives, so X1+ may not be their primary concern right now. The discussions are not all that active, primarily because it all just works, so there are no bugs to complain about. I do see that beta builds with AMS 2 and HT support are being developed, so there may be an update coming soon.
I doubt that they can do anything with the encoder plate. I think that might require access to the motor control code, and only Bambu has that.
