Cool, so I’ve repeated the calibration right away, just out of curiosity, and it gave exactly the same result, third time’s the charm.. well no, same screen - so is this a bug or a feature ?
Well, I would expect that during consecutive run it will not be different, but the screen suggests (I do understand the the empty dot’s are probably way exaggerated), calibration corrected in exactly the same way is kind of unexpected.
But if you take a photo, run 5 prints (even a 24 hour print) and then do it again. It’s STILL exactly the same.
I am almost convinced that it’s not actually doing anything, it just gives the appearance.
Like. If I calibrate it with the vision encoder, and it “corrects” and I proceed to do the calibration again. I would EXPECT the calibration should be almost perfect. Not exactly the same.

I think it’s working, but the picture will be the same across the board. Do you have another X2D to try it on?
I run the vision encoder on my H2D’s and H2C’s every time firmware gets updated and I could swear it shows the exact same screen for all the same types every time.
But I do know there’s several videos out there showing print improvements because of it, so I would wager a guess it is doing the job it says it is. The results screen is sadly and probably just generic if I were to guess.
You talking about the buffer? If so, grab the little lever for it on the back side (it’s spring loaded) to pull it out towards the PTFE you installed.
Once you pulled it out you should see one of those PTFE quick connect connectors (it’s black on the X2D buffer). You simply press it down and pull the PTFE tubing out at the same time.
I believe it’s intended to be like that. The problem is that no one knows how exactly this procedure works in a closed ecosystem like BL.
My guess would be that it has the default values stored somewhere and whenever you do a VE motion accuracy calibration - it measures against the default values, not against your previous result. But I may be wrong here.
After much research my understanding is that it corrects from 0-0. It is not incremental. Basically every time you run it is deletes the previous results.
I think where you will see a different in the picture is over time. Take a picture now, take another at 500hrs, 1000hrs, 2000hrs…etc. That is what it should correct for. The screen being the same after back to back calibrations is a good sign, it means it is finding the exact same error and correcting it.
Think of it like sighting a rifle. You start at 0,0, or no correction, and at the end you might get a final result of something like +3, -1. If you sighted it immediately again starting at 0,0 you would expect the same result, +3, -1. If you got a different result it might be a cause for concern. After many years of use is when you would expect a different result (wear, bent barrel…etc). Does this make sense?
