And if you make tools and the like it might also be base colour, support and markings/labels.

You make sure the marking colour is on the bottom so there is only 2 layers of switching colours like when I print on my A1.

Then tool changers means you can snazzy up your functional prints with more colours in a realistic timeframe.

For some strange reason I feel myself wanting one of those coloured heart models that teachers use.

You can run two, I do it all the time for multicolor TPU prints. I have a top-mounted spool holder (a mod of the official Bambu one) at work and side holders for my Panda Perch at home

Imho a prime tower is still the best solution if you want quality prints.

Not a fanboy or anything but as an owner of a toolchanger since 2020 that prints at about 90% of the speed and quality of the H2D on single color prints and much faster, obviously, on multi color prints I can say that the toolchanger has pretty much sat idle since getting the H2D. Places where the H2D is superior and why the Jubilee sits idle. Biggest, first layers on the H2D are perfect every time. Others are noise, the H2D is silent compared to the Jubilee and I can consistently hit print and be done with it on the H2D and there’s no need to enhance the H2D. With the exception of a poop container my H2D is the same as it was when I purchased it last June, just realized I’ve had it over a year now so I guess everything’s about to fall apart as the warranty has expired.

I’m wondering why these videos are being released when the firmware isn’t fully programmed yet. There are now lots of videos describing how poor the quality is. As I understand it, this is a limited edition (founder) for customers who want to get the device before it hits the market. Limited to 1,200 units.

Prusa really hasn’t done itself any favours. People are thinking this is a review, but it’s just a pre-release version. Normally, the devices should go to people who are genuinely interested in getting involved and being part of this firmware journey.

I like Mpox and his YouTube channel, but it’s not the best publicity for companies when he gets early access to devices that aren’t ready for the market. This applies to other YouTubers as well, of course.

These pre-release devices should really only be given to die-hard Prusa fans who want to actively contribute - knowing the firmware isn’t ready yet.

I kinda admire that Prusa isn’t afraid of the transparency, even if it isn’t always favorable. They let it all hang out there, dirty laundry and all, and eventually (quite a long time in the case of the XL), it gets fixed and all is good, which helps build confidence in the brand knowing that you won’t be dumped.

Is Prusa running INDX on Marlin or RepRap? Setting these up on RRF should be pretty straightforward as toolchangers have been running on it for years. Early on Bondtech said they were building on Klipper then more recently they stated RRF so I’m unsure.

Prusa INDX is running on a Fork of Marlin. Most of the INDX development was done with Klipper/Kalico fork. The Control Board for the Non Prusa version has been created by Duet3d - so supports RRF - although again I suspect most of the development and testing has been done with Kalico. My own dual head INDX setup is using RRF.

Watched the mpox video. When h2 originally came out, I recall seeing people complaining about print quality for it as well.

One thing i found odd: he calls out lack of support for different nozzle sizes. I thought prusa slicer had this functionality for a while now. Maybe only in beta?

Hopefully in 6 months a lot of the issues the beta testers, I mean founders, are experiencing will be ironed out.

Did they promise to find a way to enclose the indx c1?

All in all, I’m very excited about the system. Like I was originally about h2c, until I realized they designed the system around ams, not the other way around

There is a fork but according to a friend with a Prusa XL, it works soso.

I think this is a very interesting printer - especially as it has independent Z axis on each of the 4 print heads - so can do parallel priming and printing with the right firmware and software. Its also got a pretty good build area and projected price. The only limitation is only 4 colours. Although AMS on each head - could work pretty well.

Now this printer with Vortek toolheads and 2 Vortek racks one on each side - with some way of making them work from both sides would be really interesting.

Yes, that is a good treat from them. They have a track record of releasing and then making it perfect. It was the same with XL, then Core One. INDX is no different. I am founder 0271 and just finished upgrading it. Even upgrade procedure will need some updates and be revised. But you know what? I know that they will take the review/critique and improve on it.

That’s what they always did.

Btw, the guts of the head looks … interesting.

What is a Jubilee? Never heard of that brand.

Hopefully you stumble across my video series of h2c, h2d, xl and U1 printing simultaniously. Done with good, known toolchangers. Or my stealthchanger videos. Those will blow your mind when you see whats possible.

Believe me I very much understand toolchangers… The jubilee came about as an open source project in late 2019 early 2020, was started around the same time as the E3D toolchanger. I built mine in March 2020 and ran it as my primary printer until last year when it was replaced by the H2D. I deviated from the original design as I designed my own toolheads around a Duet 6HC coupled with Mellow Fly RRF36 CAN boards. Outer shell is a combination of waterjet Inconel 622, don’t ask, and galvanized steel. 300 x 300 x 300 build volume and prints best at around 200 mm/s anything over that and quality starts to drop. Compared to the H2D it’s noisy AF and quality approaches what the H2D puts out with the exception of the first layer on the H2D is spot on always and the Jubilee can be a bit fiddly for first layers but I’m also a bit OC about them.

Biggest problem with this is nozzle alignment and offset. It’s a bear to get the z offset between all 4 nozzles to be as close as the H2D leaving less than ideal first layers on multi color prints.

  • Less Waste.
  • 8 colour.
  • Fast.
