Vortek already obsolete?

That sounds like you problem, rather than a product problem.

I’m confused… What ā€œproductā€ do you think I have a problem with?

It’s alright, we all get confused at some point in our lives.

Nevermind, I see where you’re coming from, you have a founders INDX, you should recognize me from the Bondtech discord, I’ve been keenly following the INDX since day 1

Isn’t this a nutshell of this forum? I’ll make it simple, I’m anti-fanboys. Those are the cancer to any company and future development.

But in what I use? I have INDX, bunch of BL printers. At work HT90 and Stratasys. So … where does it put in a bipolar view?

Should I? I’m not even a part of their Discord, why would I do that.

That was a valid point made by Advocado. You can either respond to it or not. There’s absolutely no reason to take it as an insult or get personal about whether someone prefers a Bambu or not, because that doesn’t add anything to the argument.

The fact is, there are different devices: some suit a person better, others don’t. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it.

That was the main point of Advocado.

Yup, different printers serve different needs. I still don’t get why so many people get aggravated at one vs. another company. At the end of the day that’s the nature of technology.

The thread is about whether Vortek is obsolete. And the answer is simple - not yet. However, it will become irrelevant very soon. Partially, due to the short-sighted development from BL. They did want to one up U1 and INDX by releasing first, and they did it. However, at the end of the day, H2C is a huge footprint box with a small bed with a fancy nozzle swapping mechanism. It’s a complex device that is not likely survive long term. Complexity is always an enemy of a long-term reliability.

That’s where toolchangers are coming in. They may look less fancy, with all tubes everywhere… but they are super simple in the design. When I finished INDX assembly - I was surprised how easy it was to upgrade and that it doesn’t have anything fancy in its design. Honestly, the fanciest thing in the toolhead is the induction hotend. That’s it. And it works.

Speaking of works, if anyone is interested - as it was pointed out many times. Founders edition is a public beta test. It’s not commercially ready for the prime time, until the time where Prusa would sell it as a standalone model.

So far it prints fine, it prints super fast, which I don’t like, the gantry and steppers go crazy, so I had to dial down a bit. Tower-less printing is overblown IMO. You can get good results out of it, but why? Prime tower doesn’t take much space and filament, but guarantees a perfect result.

Overall, it’s a fine release, it has huge potential once they iron out FW bugs. It’s not better or worse than any other company release. Afterall, every single Bambu Lab printer released had major issues upon the release… Maybe except X2D?

Quoted for truth and future reference. I think we all at times struggle with this to some point.
