Hi. I am new to multi nozzle printing, but have been trying, since i received the X2D.
I have some problems with the model not sticking to the support material and rising up do to shrinking, I would assume.
I have tried with support for PLA and later on printed in PETG with PLA as a support, but it fails every time.
I dried the filaments for 12 hours first, and printed at 0,12mm with a 0,4mm nozzle and the support material only used for the interface layer. Printed with the recommended settings from Bambu Lab.
Should i reduce the fan cooling or heat the chamber slightly to avoid any warping?
My understanding is a little limited, but two factors that come to mind are:
The support material is supposed to not bond with the part you are printing, unlike the build plate.
Printed materials shrink when cooling and this causes the part to lift off the plate, or in your case, off the boundary of the support interface.
I would think that you will need to tweak some parameters to get less curling of the layers over the support material, but others here may be able to guide you with what to try.
It is suppose to release easily, meaning not bonding as hard as the layers in the printed model, but I would assume that it has to bond to some degree, to get good quality prints, like the build plate.
To what degree can the chamber be heated when printing PLA/PETG, before it affects the print quality?
Does the count of walls affect the curling of the part?
It is printet with 6 outside walls, to make sure that the weakest part of the model is as strong as possible, but that makes it print in a circular motion on the part raising of the support material, and not in a line pattern, switching direction every layer.
There is a good thread on here about support material on dual nozzle systems (H2D at the time). TLDR: the support material is too good and works well on the single nozzle systems because it get contaminated by the main material just enough to get to to stick.
Persevere a bit with your main material settings to minimise the warping. The biggest contributor to it though is moisture in the material.
For your question yes wall count impacts warping and too many make it worse.
A lot of the unevenness is due to the warping, the nozzle can’t get the filament out, and when it then reaches a unwarped part, the pressure in the nozzle is to high, and it overextrudes.
When printing a single filament, I don’t think the results are much worse than my H2S.
your print quality is absolutely unacceptable!
have you run the machine calibration and the filament calibration?

how many walls do you print and what kind of infill?
try inner/outer order for walls
Which flavour of PLA did you use? I made the experience, that matte PLA doesn’t work at all as support for PETG, regular PLA, e.g. basic worked fine.
I think regarding quality, you can easily ignore everything above the warped part. That almost certainly is caused by the warping.
I would take a sharp look at the cooling settings. Is it possible that the first layer on top of the support is printed with bridge settings, e.g. full fan speed? That would severely reduce adhesion between support and model. Should see it in the preview.
Heating the chamber sounds like a good idea to me to reduce warping. But it bears the risk, that the PLA could clog the nozzle, when it becomes soft above the hot zone. I think 40°C are the absolute maximum. But it might be worth a try.
Just to make sure: Have you reduced the Z gap between support and part to zero?
Machine calibration was done right before this print.
Have not done the filament calibration on PETG jet, but will do that next, before printing again.
The PETG was brand new from a sealed box, and was dried for 12 hours along with the “support for PLA” before printing.
I do thing a lot of the quality issues stem from the part rising from the support, net letting the nozzle extrude the filament.
Then I think, this is your main issue. Maybe you can do a quick test by cutting most of the part away (just sink it into the build plate) so that it needs only a few layers of support and cancel the print when see it either warping or you are convinced that it works out.
That was a good suggestion.
It is where I work, we have started making our own parts, and it is frustrating to start a print and come in next day, only to be disappointed (if I did not montor it on the app after work). That way I might be able to test during work hours.
I would say I agree but you can see how average the layers are on non-warped parts too. Add that to the plethora of other posts with layer issues, ironing issues, then I can’t really say it’s anything but bad firmware on the X2D
