Was I removed from the Halloween contest?

Mac, I value your opinion. If you don’t think my design fits with the theme, I will withdraw. I was just excited to finally have a contest I felt could enter…

If you think I need a “spookier” photo, I can do that too.

I want to be wrong about my guess with regard to the theme.

I am still wondering about a DB issue.

I would hate people to do anything based on my guesses.

Can you check something?

  • Go to the contest
  • Press the join button
  • Locate your model
  • What does it say under the model, does it say “joined” join or something else?

As to you removing your withdrawing your model from the contest, I was under the impression from your post it had been.

Unless that turns out to be an error, there is little you can do to fix it. Try a ticket, know it takes days to go through.

I’m currently having to wait 8 further days after another package failed to be delivered to me and despite everyone knowing I didn’t receive it including the company who were meant to deliver it, enforced and prolonged delays are unceremoniously shoved into the ticket process.

Unless MW bother to clarify the rules, I suggest you add something pumpkin, or a jack o’ lantern on it.

As to photos, having your saber appear to be carving a real pumpkin wouldn’t hurt from a staging perspective.

Thanks for your feedback. I will submit a ticket… now I just have to find how.

It appears lightsabers are pretty much all you make, with a quick look at your profile. (nothing wrong with that)

Perhaps expand your horizons and see what other things you can come up with that are more relevant to the themes. This might help keep yourself safe in the future from being reported for irrelevancy or other conflicts

Although there are arguments that this fits the Halloween theme here, it might be tougher to sell people on “wedding Lightsabers” or “school Lightsabers” or pet lightsaber" or " hometown lightsaber" or “phone case lightsaber” etc

I mean someone has an “airless soccerball” in the halloween contest, which i find much less relevant than your lightsaber.

Good luck

That was why I have never entered a contest before, and I was excited that I felt I could finally enter one!

The really funny thing is that someone commented this very thing on one of my sabers. They printed a bunch of parts and had them as favors at their wedding. (That being said, I would never enter them in a wedding themed contest.)

I’m gonna go with the guess of DB glitch. They seem to be more frequent as of late.

Thanks for the help everyone. I created a ticket to have MW look into it.

I will try to get a spookier photo posted to be more on theme also.

If you see tonnes of other models that don’t fit in, then it’s time for you to report them.

I have two jobs and volunteer teaching children, so I don’t have all the time in the world to design. I design what brings me joy. It is just a hobby. I don’t do it for points.

If I just wanted points, I am sure I could throw together some trash to meet the requirements of any contest just to enter it. But I take pride in my designs (my brand as someone once called it.)

k tried to give good advice, good luck

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate your advice! You are another user here that has earned my respect with your posts. Please do not think I am dismissing you.

I just don’t want to be mistaken for someone that just creates designs for the sole reason of getting points in a contest.

This was the first contest that I thought fit my designs, so I entered the design that I have been working on for a long time. I think it is by far my best design to date (but I think that about all of my designs when I create them…)

I assure you it isn’t that simple, look at the trash I threw together, all I got once was an “Excellent Participation Award”, not even a T-shirt that said, I entered a contest and all I got was this T-shirt!

Do what you love and you’ll love what you are doing.

Some smart person said that, me just now, keep up.

I don’t do it for the points either, I do it to stop the monotony of life as it drains away and until my body finally gives up (fingers crossed a few months).

That said, I spent four months creating things that I wanted to make and very few people found interesting to download. 400+ models in and I find something I like to make and others really seem to enjoy. That has brought significant returns, nothing like the true big designers here, but, far more than I need. Let’s just say, it’s paid for a lot of BL stuff.

Where I get my sense of purpose is when I get comments telling me how a teacher gave their special needs kids a model each that I designed and they were enthralled. Or when someone told me their sensory deprived child loves to play with my models as they feel something. The ADHD people who share they can focus when using my models.

That puts a smile on my face.

Forgive me if anyone feels convicted by my statement. That was not the intent. I was not implying that anyone here is doing that.

I was simply stating that I don’t want to create a design only because a contest is running. My designs take me a long time and it is really hard to time them to something specific. Again, that is why I was excited to finally feel that I could enter a contest.

I doubt anyone does, I didn’t.

We knew what you meant, no one can take umbrage over your reasons.

The melting pot here requires those who do nothing, do a little, do it for fun, do it for profit, do it for the kicks.

The only ones that are oil in water are those who ruin it for others the point-harvesting, model stealing ingrates.

Look at you, you had me use; umbrage and ingrates in a response. I feel older than the 51-year-old child I actually am.

Relax young man, you’ve got to spend some more time on the pond to catch up.

You know, I somehow thought you were older than me.
Well, at least you’re more mature than I am. Kudos.

I’m certainly much closer to the end of the game we are all playing.

I’ve been at the end several times and have come back. Yes, and 10 years ago I too had already suffered blows of fate of a kind that no one my age could bear. In particular, I got to know people from a side that you would rather not see.

But on the subject of Helloween:

of course anyone can dress up as they like for Helloween. And since anything is conceivable, any accessory for any costume is also conceivable. But the range quickly becomes very, very wide.

Thanks for your help, MalcTheOracle! And thanks for the feedback, everyone.

I concede that my view of the contest was inaccurate. It was not a Halloween costume contest, but a Halloween decoration contest. So whether it was a DB error or not that excluded me originally, I have “quit” (removed my model) from the contest.

I am sorry if anyone was offended by my misunderstanding of this contest.

I hope to be able to participate in a future contest, but unless I branch out or they have a movie prop contest, that probably won’t happen.

Have a nice day! And try being nice to someone, it might surprise you (and them).
