I’m afraid you’re overthinking this—it happens to anyone who spends too much time reading forum posts. 
All kidding aside, whether you use distilled water or water from the fountains of the Athenian Oracle, it will only get your plate wet—no wetter than the water coming out of your tap.
What you’re dealing with is a flow rate issue. Your photo shows perfect layer adhesion to the build plate, but it also reveals uneven filament deposition. I’d recommend doing a forum search for flow rate calibration and tackling that problem first.
