I recently started printing with transparent PETG on my A1, and I am seeing some odd waves/lines/stripes starting on the third layer of the print. They cannot be felt and are only visible. Does anyone know what might cause this? Running the latest firmware and version of BambuStudio.
Do a forum search on âwaveyâ and youâll find several threads of the same problem with various suggestions and solutions. One solution that I can recall from memory was a slightly loose nozzle.
Itâs a pretty standard PETG translucent thing (its Bambu brand right?), when used at default speeds. You can slow things way down to attempt a more transparent look but its not going to work out well on a textured plate. FYI I used this in a recent project on a textured plate with default settings and am happy with the results:
It looks like this layer in your photo is starting to get broken up into sections, the default bottom surface and infills might do better if you set monotonic line or concentric.
And finally you might get better results if you manually calibrate the filament for flow dynamics and flow rate and make sure its proper dry before doing so.
But what are you printing? theres nothing on that plate

Itâs an old spool of Fiberlogy PETG, running it on a custom profile that prints top/bottom at 60 mm/s. Iâm not really aiming for a clear transparent look.
I donât thinks itâs getting broken up into sections, I canât feel the pattern with my finger. I guess it might have something to do with flow not being perfectly calibrated although I still think itâs a weird pattern to happen at every 4th-5th layer line like that.
I have basically the same thing on mine but your filament seems more transparent right away, it may exacerbate the issue. But its like a plaid striping, from the textured side it looks a good bit better due to the roughness scattering all the light.
Anyhow, it doesnât bother me much because of my geometry, I can see how the straight stripes across the circular model look bad, so I would use a different pattern that fits better with a circle, concentric.
From there it might be interesting to do all bottom shell layers at 60mm/s, Iâm assuming you have bottom surface set for 60 then it bumps up the next layer.
Good to know itâs not just my printer then. But actually no, the first layer speed I have set to 30 mm/s, 60 mm/s is for all other solid layers.
it looks like itâs oscillating between normal extrusion and under extrusion, but iâm having trouble coming up with an explanation since the pattern is so regular!
