Ways to get the top surface as close it can get to the bottom surface

Hi, with a 0.4 nozzle, a plate with smooth texture like Fysetc Cyronix or Biqu Glacier and Matte PLA filament I managed to get to a point where I am almost happy but I was wondering if there are things I could try that I didn’t consider.

I don’t think ironing would work because it would probably make the top much smoother than the bottom which has a fine texture.

The matte filament helps a lot because if you use basic filament the top surface ends up looking much glossier than the bottom.

I never could try a smooth plate because turns out it was once available at a single online store where I live but it is out of stock right now. Does anyone have any experience with it?

One crazy method that I read somewhere on the internet (forgot where it was, possibly reddit) that I might try is heating up the plate to 180 degrees and pressing the top surface on the plate for a while to get a similar fine texture on the top surface.

If the top surface is flat you could split the part and print both sides on the plate. Then glue the parts together or if you get fancy have them snap together. I’ve done this with great results in the past.

Give it a try, there are a lot of settings you can tweak in the ironing section.

Depending on your filament you may or may not need to use glue.

This really depends on your application though. Is having an identical top and bottom surface really that critical? Isn’t it a problem that your walls look different than the base as well?

Jon’s suggestion about splitting parts may be the best solution, ultimately.

Thank you. The reason I want them to look as identical as possible is for parts where the bottom will be the right visible side of it and the top will be the left side instead of the bottom being the surface it will rest on.
