We need some way to confirm the bed is clear or to kick connections

We have a company of 150 employees with access to 5 X1C printers. It looks like each printer is limited to 4 video feeds and unfortunately someone somewhere is always leaving Bambu Studio open.

This makes it impossible to start a new print without physically checking the printer. We need to know if the bed is clear and also which build plate is installed. Currently checking the camera and raising the bed up is the best way but unfortunately the camera is often unavailable.

Either give some way to kick idle users off the printer connection or offer some other way to verify the build plate type and whether it has been cleared.

I believe one of the future firmware implementation is a camera/Lidar check if the build plate is clear. I thought I had read something like that somewhere.

for a few pounds, you can get an esp32 camera module. They will connect to your LAN. Good enough resolution to see what is on the bed.

Still not automated. You still need to intercept the print manually.

op only stated they need to know if bed is clear, and which plate fitted. The esp32 cam will show that. Further more, it is relatively easy to integrate it with other stuff, not being closed source code, etc. A company of 150 employees need to be prepared to hire problem solvers, any free advice is worth what you pay for it.

Or maybe a clickable pop up after you click send to print, but only after a completed print, to confirm bed is clear. Similar to “The build plate is not placed properly. Please adjust it.”
