Weird Obsession -- Saving Extruder Clogs

This is probably TMI, but I have had to clear several extruder clogs during my time with my P1S. It was scary at first, but with the help of the Wiki and this incredible community, I have gotten very confident about it. That said, opening up the machine is still a little daunting. Once fixed, I have a great sense of satisfaction to see the P1S up and running again.

Anyway, I noticed I tend to save the extruder clog for a while. I’m not sure why; it’s kind of weird, but there it is. Maybe it is the feeling that “I beat you!”

Thanks for listening.

We need photos.

I think you should consider designing stands or plinths for them and get them on the mantelpiece.

We all have those moments of pride, like a great dump or something the surgeon removed, things need to be memorialised.

That’s a good point! Clearing an extruder clog is a 3D printing right of passage, like when a new business frames its first dollar.

I’m not gonna judge. I mean I will but will say I’m not.

I think of them as boogers. So a booger collector making booger collecting things is sort of interesting. Probably shouldn’t call them boogers though. Although, that would get attention. Could be bad attention, but hey, any publicity is good right?

Carry on my wayward son…

Boogers…I am not sure I can get that image out of my head. I think you just cleared me of my obsession.

I always say ‘I’m not gonna judge, who am I kidding, yes I am!’

Have a friend who like fresh raw oysters, wanted me to try them them… I says they look like someone hacked up phlegm, no way.

That kinda grossed them out. Not they know how I feel.

It’s good to be honest

Shove your index finger right up in there and wiggle it for a short period, bend it to a scoop like shape and pull.

Boogers now out of your head.

This is a full-service forum.

I am feeling a little judged. I could go to therapy - OR - I could 3D print that Super Star Destroyer I’ve been eyeing!

Make a badge and stick it on your favourite jacket to show off achievements, like, first time soldering, first time unclogging extruder, first time changing flat tire… you know, like scout things. Would be fun

Everybody drives car, but how many can change the flat tire with spare when strangled in middle of nowhere? I can assure a lot of us would take the phone out and call relatives or tow truck in that situation instead.

Obviously the answer to your dilemma is clear.

Print the Super Star Deystroyer while in therapy.

Duh.
