Weird slicing issue in Bambu Studio

I’m trying to make some tokens for a tabletop game.

I made a bunch of them in Tinkercad, bundled them as suggested in a YouTube video, for easier coloring.

I think they look ok in Bambu Studio and I can paint-bucket the letters if I want to but after slicing, all the texts are lost as if they were never there. I have text on both sides, top and bottom.

Earlier I tried a few samples and the print quality was very nice but there were missing letters on the underside. The letters are 1mm deep on a 3mm object so how can there be missing letters?

I’m using a 0.2mm nozzle, wall are set to arachne.

Now that I have a bigger batch of the tokens, the letters disappear when slicing. Am I doing something wrong? Or rather, what am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I tried to split them into objects but the Studio lost all measurements in the z-axis and sunk the top letters deep into the tokens so the bottom ones were visible but the top ones rested on top of the bottom ones sunken under the surface.

Pictures attached.

The whole bunch in Preparation:

The whole bunch after slicing. Both top and bottom texts are gone.

Just came here to say I’m currently pulling my hair out dealing with the same thing. I have read through the text docs 10 times, I’m adding text as modifier on the bottom face so it prints better against the plate, everything looks fine, filament colors are selected, the prepare view shows the priming tower, etc. I slice the plate and it only slices the color of the main body, only shows one filament and one nozzle, same thing happens even if I try embossing as a part. Cant find anything online about this problem!

Here you will find the solution to your problem; another user had exactly the same problem:

In short:

  • Raise the text
  • select a lower layer height
  • or, alternatively, set the font as a modifier

Trying to stick different objects together, and the slicer doesn’t know what is more important to you. So, depending on tolerance, it displays certain letters and others disappear. In such a case, modifier is recommended.

idk about the initial poster but i’m having this issue using the correct settings, i’ve already seen that post. This is absolutely maddening

@Janitor666 I think I have figured this out after like 2 hours of banging my head against the wall. There is some issue with combining the objects before slicing, if you go to the left sidebar, make sure you’ve selected “objects” rather than “global” so you can see the object tree.

Right click the top-level object group that contains both the object and the text, and choose “fix model” it will run a process and might display a progress bar, after this you can re-slice and it should show the text.

This was the only thing that worked for me after trying literally everything else I could think of.

NOTE: you have to do this for each object that has text on it. I tested by doing it one at a time and re-slicing after each, and it worked only for the ones i’d already “fixed” each time.

I tried to upload a screenshot but I guess i’m not allowed to post images, sorry.

You must complete the tutorial and confirm the rules. You should have a message in your forum inbox about this. It takes less than 5 minutes. Then you can post images. :+1:

Thanks for your input. But my process wasn’t the same, for some reason.

I had to import every piece individually, split them to parts, use the globe coloring tool to paint the whole piece white (it was the easiest way to get the letters colored) and then paint bucket the middle part black.

Tedious work and I don’t know if it was the “correct” way but it worked for me and it got the job done. Seems to me there’s a lot to learn in Bambu Studio to get the most out of the AMS…
