Werid looking first layer

Just got my H2C and I started to print with Bambu’s PLA Metal filament and so far out of the two prints that I have used it in this is how the first layer is looking and I am confused as to why it looks like this since I have never seen something like this before and don’t even know how to describe it. So I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before and knows how to fix it?

Looks like stress marks from pulling it off the bed before it cooled. hit it with a torch or heat gun and it will turn black.

Is that an engine block?

Yes it is and I will try hitting it with some heat but I have used this filament before on other printers and I pulled it off the bed before it cooled and nothing like this. But I guess it’s because the bed is bigger on this printer compared to the other ones.

The new PEI plate adheres very well. I have it a sometimes on large PETG parts, where it even does this after cooling. I hate glue, and the heat gun does miracles.

These new plates do have very good adhesion because I don’t even use glue on any of my prints.

Some use glue to reduce adhesion. Especially PETG can stick so well that in some cases you can damage the part, or the top layer of the build plate.

Looks like the model file is not flat on the bottom in the area near the top cross bar. This would keep it from resting flat on the build plate.

I keep my plates clean with soap and water and use no extra adhesion methods. Not a fan as they are messy and never needed them on my BL printers(enclosed system).

I often get this if I take my prints off the plate too early and even sometimes after the plate is cooled. It’s the stressors on the material between the temperature differences while the material cools.

To remove use a heat gun or a little flame torch(lightly), and it goes away. Or I’ll leave it when it the true bottom of the print.

On my old Prusa I used body powder to print PETG :wink:
Still have the unused glue stick from that era.

Interesting! My first printer was the Creality CR-06 SE, which came with a carborundum glass build surface. According to the specifications, the perfect build surface for PLA, PETG and TPU.

Well, for PETG I needed painters tape to get it to stick to the build plate,

With Smooth PEI (on my Voron) all my trouble disappeared :grin:

I never been a fan of glue.

I miss glass beds. They were a pain to remove the part sometimes. Otherwise, they created an actual flat bottom surface. Even with a taco bed
