Just curious what you all doing with your points. Buying loads of filament, stocking up on printers or just hoarding all the points for now? If you have exclusive points, have you redeemed any for cash yet?
I was saving up for the new H2D, but I have no idea when it’s actually going to ship, and I don’t really “need” another printer at the moment, and I have a decent stash of filament. I would like to get a few spools of PPA-CF, but I was going to wait until I had something special to print with it before I bought any, and I have no idea what that would be at the moment.
Hey mate you’re allowed to ask a question on here, even if it was already talked about over 6 months ago
I use my points on filament, I don’t need any more printers right now so i’ve got a bunch of cards ready for whatever the H2D ends up being, but I have at least 1 roll of all PLA Basic, PLA Matte, PETG HF, and PETG Translucent as I tend to use a variety of colors for my orders.
I also try to keep at least 1 spare unopened roll of the PLA Basic and PETG HF, Some colors i have lots more like black/white/Light Grey
I seem to be making a nice steady amount of points users/customers are happy so It’s fine with me, happy to have a hobby that pays for itself at the moment. I do Print/Etsy on the side but i have a real job and this is all still on the hobby side of things
I did 2 rounds of 10+ rolls of filament over the discounted time so I’m pretty stocked up. Funny thing is I still don’t have enough lol.
I just bought a P1S no combo last night because it was in stock on their website. I have an A1 combo and really just dipping my toe in to core cycle to see if that’s something I actually need.
Over Christmas only having one printer was a bottle neck for me. It was taken up by Christmas gifts and not models for uploading.
I’ll probably save up for another printer after this. Gotta figure out if I’m going to go A1 or P1S.
I did buy loads of filament, I stocked up on printers (have two minis and a p1s) and now I’m hoarding the points. I’m not really interested in the H2D, but I might replace one of the minis with another p1s… It’s in my office so I don’t love how loud it is, but I find the AMS infinitely more convenient than the AMS lite if I swap filaments frequently (which I do).
I have not tried redeeming for cash. I’m working myself out of the program as the 90 days expire on the models.
Incidentally the magic smoke came out of my toolhead board on my original A1 mini yesterday, so I might have to put some points into a replacement board. However, my dream point-purchases right now would be a BL filament dryer and a refreshed P1S with better screen and auto calibration.
For me the only true upside of the exclusive program would be earning more points, but I don’t need more points, so I really have no reason to join. The downside is that while I can’t say I had any problems with it, the program seems to be managed badly and its ill defined rules applied arbitrarily. I rather not take that risk for no upside.
Fair enough. A couple months ago when I was trying to save up for an A1mini, I would have asked why anyone wouldn’t want more points, but I can totally see where you’re coming from now.
I’ve started a Patreon recently too, and while it’s probably the cheapest commercial license around, I’ve been considering getting some of my designs back onto other platforms, so after the 90 days is over I’ll weigh my options.
I’m not even really that fussed about them being exclusive, but some of the seemingly random (not many, to be fair) point deductions people are getting scares me a bit so I’m just stepping cautiously
At the moment I’ve been cashing them in for gift cards and stacking them. I have been able to gift an A1 mini to all of my immediate family members, stack up on more than enough filament for now, and grab a bunch of spare parts. I don’t really need anything else at the moment, so now I’m just collecting gift cards lol.
I figured I will probably need them for spare parts when the new flagship releases, so I’ll hold them till then. Unless I get enough to grab an X1-C before then, that will be very tempting.
Who knows though, if someone were to come up to me and show interest in 3D printing I might just go ahead and grab another A1 Mini for them to get their feet wet.
My town just recently opened up a library. I might grab a printer to donate to them if I find myself with enough gift cards and I don’t need anything.
I do not use a lot of filament but I’m getting pretty stocked up right now, it’s becoming a problem… And I also don’t need more printers
So recently a friend of mine remade my website from the ground up and as a thank you I ordered a lot of filament for him (he has just gotten an old 3D printer)
Does anybody know if Bambu cares about giving/selling stuff you get through the points system? Or is it only meant for personal hoarding applications?
I know I can go exclusive and get direct cash but I also like to share my designs on multiple platforms so everybody can enjoy them.
@qjo If you or anyone else reading this is looking to donate printers or filament in the future, then you should look into donating to your local Makerspace.
I am pretty new to the community, but have been printing with x1c since may of last year. I slowly started to upload my models over the course of the year ending up with about 30 models exclusive to maker world, naturally I saw point accumulate until January where I was getting daily boosts and points (200 per day average) and since last week, it all stopped. Wondering if the latest security dilemma has lost user traffic to the site? Wry strange to not see any points at all the last week.
