I’ve tried several types of weights (batteries, coins…) with no luck. I’m thinking washers or fishing weights but does anyone have any other ideas? I’ve also searched Amazon but can’t find anything that will fit in the usual screw-in holder.
Out of curiosity, what is the problem that a spool stuffed with coins is not enough?
If you have to weigh it down that much there is another problem.
May I suggest Tungsten?

Coins could be simply because I didn’t have enough quarters and I feel a little stupid to admit that. I’m on my way to the bank right now! Thanks for the idea and please excuse the brain fart.
Pennies are better
More weight less money.

2 problems with that one -
- I live in Manhattan and don’t have a yard.
- I had no idea what osmium was until I just Googled it. I guess I could search Central Park but I wouldn’t know osmium if I fell over it. I’m a toy salesman, not a geologist!

Just kidding… I fill the screw in holders with activated alumina. It’s a little better than the silica gel beads. The coins will definitely be heavier than that though.
I like to think I’m quick on the uptake so I’m blaming this on the lack of caffeine this morning. Would you believe that I weighed both of them? A quarter is .2 oz and a penny is .1, which brings up an interesting thought - if I can get more than double the amount of pennies into the spool than I can of quarters, the pennies are MUCH better. Now I have to weigh dimes and nickels.

Why do you need to put weight in the spools?
Have you tried lead shot?
I thought we were going on weight alone, but if it is a size issue, she would easily be cut down to a few thousand spools worth.

Bag of clearance zinc bolts/nuts from Menards
Pennies are really your cheapest stackable metal. Not as clean though.
The freight to the US would be crazy, and don’t get me started on the tariff!
With the amount of fat involved, she would float, pull her behind an oil tanker, if you guys can handle the dissection required.
