What is an easy mod to add active humidity control to AMS?

My printer/AMS is in a humid environment, and everything about my printer is low maintenance except the humidity control. I would like to not have to keep changing out / refreshing desiccant. Is there any easy mods to add active dehemudification to an AMS?

You could upgrade any existing AMS with the Eibos kit.

There are not any easy mods to add active dehumidification, but there are a couple. You can install a humidity control membrane (search makerworld) or pump in dry air from another source such as a drying column.

Did you print the Desiccant Baskets that fit into the AMS?

I had those in my AMS which is in a VERY humid garage/workshop on the coast of Maine. I loaded desiccant in at the beginning of summer and never had to regen the desiccant until just recently. The AMS unit was still reading ‘1’ on its coarse ‘Humidity’ gauge and the humidistat in the basket had only crept up to 15%.

Not wishing to be pedantic, but that is a passive not active method.

The OP is seeking an active solution.

Yeah, I got that, but the way I read his post, he is looking for a solution to keep his AMS dry. I suggested one that works well without resorting to ‘active’ methods.

You were focused on the method, I was focused on the goal.

My concern with your logic though is the OPs description of

Means passive will not work as the silica will be overloaded immediately.

Mine was constant 80% or worse. So, what’s too much? OP still hasn’t answered the question whether he even tried passive. So ‘will not work’ is still in question.

The Polymaker PolyDryer Dry Dock looks good as an addon for the AMS.

Just use/try activated aluminum versus silica desiccant. Lasts longer and much more power to absorb. Once it goes over 10%, just recharge in a little toaster oven…

Passive too, more much more aggressively passive…

I’m just changing out some that I put in my regular AMS units last summer or fall I think it was. Is have to look on Amazon, as to when I purchased it…
