I downloaded a file for an Owl Vase but every time I print it a defect occurs on the bottom and on the side, is it printer settings or defective STL?
Its an issue with model - it doesnt have flat base. Its only close to flat causing printer to print most of the base in the air, just above build plate. You can see in first image contact points - slice on the left and small contact patch on right.
Simplest solution is to move manualy object ~ 0.5/1mm down so uneven bottom will be cut of by slicer and new flat surface gets created

This is a timely reminder that stuff people share on the internet isn’t always quality goods ![]()
As Yatuin said, the bottom of the slicer is an implicit cut plane. If you move a model below it, it will automatically cut at that plane.
You can also use the tool named “Cut” to cut the bottom to a flat plane.
