What is everyone's workflow on uploading a new model w/ pictures?

Like most people my camera is my phone. So what is the easiest way of uploading a new model to Makerworld including the requisite photos. Personally I take pictures with phone, wait till they upload to google photos, then have to download them on my computer, then use that when uploading model. Also I have to create custom profile not using my custom filament profiles. Does anyone have the overall steps they use?

I never use cloud services for sending files between phone and the computer… I mean: the phone and the computer’s right there! Just connect the two and get the files directly!

As for filament: I use bambu filament (and one other filamnet that works great with default profle) so I don’t have to change profiles

My original workflow was:

  • Take picture of model with phone
  • Upload photo

I changed up my game

  • Take photo of model in a light box with phone
  • Upload phone
  • Import into graphic design software
  • Choose fonts suitable to the model
  • Add captions and match colours to model

Since then, my downloads have increased considerably, my points have done likewise.

The effort is more, the rewards are multi-fold.

The light box was £50, I bought a tripod with halo light which cost around £20 (because I can’t stand unaided and have tremors).

My costs have been repaid many times over.

I have always provided a photo with every one of my almost 600 uploads because I want to see photos of how things appear once they have been printed.

The requirement to provide a photo with every print profile has been in place for many months.

I take photos with my phone. I either use my 3D printed lightbox, a larger lightbox I bought from Amazon, or take a photo of the model in a natural setting where it will be used. I haven’t invested in any external lighting or tripod but I plan to at some point for improving photos.

I then transfer to a computer and upload them into Photoshop. Bring down the size a bit and constrain to 4:3. Make color corrections and touch ups. Sometimes add text or a caption if I think it will improve the image. Every once in a while I will make an animated gif.

See my page for examples

Posh

I do this every once in a while when the model requires a visual explanation of what it is.

If you saw how difficult it is for a cripple to achieve, that would get you laughing.

I generally use my tablet for photos. All model development is on the PC and all the model stuff gets uploaded from the PC and saved to draft. I’ll compose the text either on the tablet or the PC and save to draft. I take photos with the tablet and do those uploads from the tablet, do final checks on tablet or PC and then publish.
