What is the deal with filament assignment?

When I load a project it always overwrites all of my assigned AMS filaments. WHY? As if I am using precisely the same AMS setup as whoever made the project? What an insane assumption!

When I assign filaments it doesn’t always assign them to the right slot. I can assign a red filament, color something red, using selection 3, then it starts printing slot 1 anyway. When examining after hitting print, it thinks it SHOULD be on slot 4? So weird and unpredictable!

When I try to ‘sync to machine’ this usually results in an error message. When it doesn’t, only bambu filaments show and everything else is deleted.

What in the name of trash is going on here? There is no world in which I am buying $40 rolls of PETG so how do I get it to behave normally without their filament?

I like the idea of ‘print and go’ but they seem to have forgotten their own AMS exists. It’s more like, tell it to load in studio, configure garbage and get frustrated with obtuse and buggy settings for 20 minutes, then print. OR don’t use any of that and drag and drop the STL files in yourself, which utterly defeats the point of having profiles.

It also doesn’t even save the machine presets, they seem bound to project. Insane.

How do you load it? You should use the “file” in the top menu and than use “import”… If you use this method, you won’t loose your settings…

Either from the online marketplace which was what I was originally lamenting, or from a saved project file.

No matter what I load locally, the name of the project on the printer always says the very first project I ever printed.

The printer is quality. The software is a huge and unforgivable mess. Way obviously a “too many cooks” situation.

Not true when importing a 3mf file. Just double checked to verify this.

If you import a 3mf file, your AMS settings stay as they are… better?

Totally agree, the software is a real challenge. Bambu studio shuts down 6 of ten times I start a print.
