What is The Purpose of the Spring Inside the A1's AMS hub?

I’m planning to make a single filament hub with ptfe adaptor for my A1 since I do not have any plans for printing in multicolor. I was wondering if I can remove the large spring that allows the AMS hub to be push up and down. Any thoughts?

That spring detects jams in the filament feed: a jam causes the spring to compress and a magnet inside the moving part to trigger a sensor. It’s still useful for single filament printing in case the filament gets tangled on the spool.

Why do you want to replace the four-entry jam detector? It works fine with just one filament tube.

Well I like to have one PTFE tube connector in it and just forget the AMS hub LOL.

I just like customizing my printers even tho I know A1 is not designed to be modified.
