Printing the TPU Assist housing and the object in the upper left hand corner on plate 1 has these two yellow planes dissecting the model. Can someone explain this? I am fairly new to all this and have never seen this before.
Those are “modifiers”. What they’re modifying (some aspect of the slicer settings are overridden in those areas), I can’t say. They’re the items in Chinese in the Object window on the left.
There is a large overhang (bridge?) above the highest pane. A few more layers to print and I’ll see what happens.
edit: It printed that bridge like a champ. I didn’t know that was possible. Just when you think you know a little you realize you know nothing.
The translation is “generic cube” or the same as in the English bambu studio.
That part uses 4 wall loops. The modifiers for layers 11, 25, and 26 reduce the wall loops from 4 to two. The wall thickness remains the same; the two “missing” loops are still present, recharacterized as solid infill.
I do not know WHY the designer added the modifiers, but I think this hocus pocus is related to the bridges that start those layers. Maybe an attempt to reduce sudden differences in layer time?
I printed mine yesterday and I was curious why the might have done it, so I investigated a bit more.
It looks like they added the modifiers to fix an apparent issue where the bridge changes direction in midair. They reduced it to 2 walls so that the bridge would start further back.
Before modifier
After modifier
Dang! Bambu is being smart!
Sure looks like a feature that should be encoded in the slicer imo. “extra Bridge anchoring” or something.
