I’m trying to print the model shown in the attached pictures, but I can’t figure out which type of support material or settings I should use to get a decent result.
I’ve already tried many configurations, including using PETG as support.
Could anyone help me with this?
Hello, thanks for the input, but unfortunately is not possible to orient the model as you suggested. Sorry, I was not clear in my post. The part in picture is only a part of whole model. Really I need to use the support.
If you have CAD control of the model, change those rounded fillets into something that starts as a chamfer. Printing undersides of spheres is an incredibly well-identified problem domain, and you’re in it.
Raggedness on the shelf leading into the rounded side:
Change support to produce a better more full support interface. I would suggest 3 interface layers with 0 interface spacing, and set your top Z distance to something between 0.14 to 0.20. Ironing the interface can have some help too, if your slicer allows

Just a question: do you think that using filament for support can help on that?
From what i see in your image, model sits on the build plate in the long face (horizontally). i suggest to turn it vertically, so that the thin side is on the build plate. This way you should avoid the bad result. Considering that there is a little part that goes out and floats, i think you sould enable supports (tree). Try and let me know
I can only give you back the same level of specificity you gave in your original post.
I would orient the part correctly and turn on supports. Use a top z distance of .25 or .3 I’ve never been able to get PETG to work reliably as a zero interface support material for PLA. But if you print the part in ABS, HIPS is a fail-safe support interface material.
